This precious little guy is one of the dogs rescued in July from a heartbreaking hoarding situation, and he is a true testament to resilience and sweetness of spirit. Grandpa is just five years old and owes his unusual nickname to his gentle nature and the fact that he often makes the same expressions as Wilfred Brimley. Grandpa is an extra-long doggo that gets floofier as you head to his hindquarters, and could be a mix of Jack Russell, dachshund, corgi, and border collie. Deputy Gregory Sanders says Grandpa was quite the charmer, knew how to sit on command, and trots right along next to you on a leash. Grandpa is heartworm negative, fully vaccinated and neutered, frisky when he steps out, yet mellow enough to hang out at a Cracker Barrel.

You can meet Grandpa at St. Frances Animal Center Monday - Friday, 11 am - 5 pm and Saturday and Sunday from 11 am - 4 pm at 125 N. Ridge Street, Georgetown.

Please join us in congratulating Corporal James Perrino on earning his Master’s Degree from Columbia Southern University!

Earning an advanced degree is an accomplishment under any circumstances, but doing it while serving your community as a dedicated police officer and being a husband and father to three young children takes an incredible amount of commitment, discipline, and sacrifice.

At the North Myrtle Beach Police Department, we believe in hiring great people and continuing to invest in them throughout their careers. Education makes us better leaders, better decision-makers, and ultimately better public servants. That’s why we are proud to support our employees through opportunities such as our tuition reimbursement program and encourage them to never stop learning and growing.
