Community members and local organizations came together Saturday, October 24, for the Garden of Hope workday, on Carver Street. The workday brought volunteers together to roll up their sleeves, connect with neighbors and prepare the garden for a new season of growth.
The event was supported by Horry County Community Collaborative (HC3) and the City of Myrtle Beach’s Neighborhood Services department. Stay tuned for upcoming workdays to prepare the garden for planting.

We hope to see you at the Garden of Hope Workday. It’s an opportunity to roll up your sleeves, connect with neighbors and help prepare the garden for a new season of growth. The workday is from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 24, at the Garden of Hope, 1395 Carver Street.

A special thank-you to our MyBeach 101 graduate and now NSD Volunteer, Brian Long, for recommending us, and to Senior Multimedia Specialist Chasity Pendergrass for reaching out and including us!

What a wonderful way to spend the day reconnecting with familiar faces, strengthening established friendships, and meeting new ones. We are grateful for opportunities like these that allow us to connect with and serve our community.

Myrtle Beach students, families, educators and law enforcement officers are invited to “Widening The Circle.” Teens and law enforcement will come together in a welcoming, community-centered setting where participants can share perspectives, ask questions, listen to one another and discover common ground. The City of Myrtle Beach proudly congratulates Neighborhood Services Director Mary Cookie-Goings on her induction into the 2026 Myrtle Beach High School Athletic Hall of Fame!

A 1978 graduate of Myrtle Beach High School, Cookie has made a lasting impact on the community through her decades of service. Her distinguished career includes work as an educator and school counselor, followed by a continued commitment to public service.

With 42 years dedicated to serving others, Cookie has helped shape lives, strengthen the community and make a difference throughout the Grand Strand. Her Hall of Fame induction honors not only her connection to Myrtle Beach High School, but also the leadership, dedication and positive influence she has demonstrated throughout her career.

The induction ceremony will take place during halftime of the Myrtle Beach High School vs. St. James High School football game on Friday, October 16. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium, 705 33rd Avenue North. Join us in celebrating Cookie and this well-deserved honor!
