Neighbors, families and law enforcement will come together for an evening of community spirit during National Night Out 2026. The annual event is from 5 to 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 29, at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center, Exhibit Hall C, 2101 North Oak Street. Admission is free. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet Myrtle Beach city council members, Myrtle Beach police officers and specialized units, including SWAT, the K-9 Unit and Bike Patrol. Public Works, emergency response and fire vehicles will also be on display. The event features vendors, arts and crafts, face painting, music and family-friendly activities. Neighborhood Watch groups are invited to participate in the "One Pot Wonder" competition, with prizes awarded for first, second and third place. ROAD CLOSURES AND TRAFFIC DELAYS EXPECTED FRIDAY AHEAD OF PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP'S VISIT TO MYRTLE BEACH

Myrtle Beach residents and visitors should expect temporary road closures and traffic delays during the late afternoon and evening Friday, Aug. 21, due to President Donald Trump’s visit to the Myrtle Beach Convention Center.

This is not a City of Myrtle Beach event; however, the city-owned Myrtle Beach Convention Center is serving as the event venue. Doors to the convention center are scheduled to open to attendees at 3 p.m., and increased vehicle and pedestrian traffic is expected in the area beginning earlier in the day.

The city also urges anyone planning to wait outside the convention center to prepare for hot weather. Heat-related illness is a concern, particularly for those who may be standing outside for an extended period. Attendees who plan to wait outside in the queue should take precautions to stay cool and seek assistance immediately if they begin experiencing signs of heat-related illness.

Some roads near the Myrtle Beach Convention Center may be posted “local traffic only” beginning in the late morning, with temporary road closures expected in the late afternoon and evening, particularly in areas between the Myrtle Beach International Airport and the convention center. Drivers should allow extra travel time, use alternate routes when possible and follow directions from law enforcement officers. Please drive slowly in affected areas and avoid stopping along roadways or blocking intersections. Closures will vary in duration, and roads will reopen as soon as it is safe to do so.

Because of security requirements, exact road closures and details about the president’s travel route will not be announced in advance. Closures are subject to change at the direction of the U.S. Secret Service. The city is providing the best information available to help residents, area schools, businesses and visitors plan ahead and make appropriate travel decisions.

The City of Myrtle Beach appreciates everyone’s patience and cooperation as city teams coordinate with federal and local partners to accommodate the presidential visit while minimizing impacts to residents, area schools, businesses and visitors.

Vendors are needed for the reintroduction of Charlie’s Market. The market is an opportunity for local vendors to showcase their businesses, products and services while connecting with shoppers and the community. The event is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 19, at Charlie’s Place, 1420 Carver Street.

Hundreds of students lined up to get free bookbags and school supplies Friday, at Patrick Mobile Home Park. Thank you to the volunteers, businesses, community partners and organizations for making this event successful.

Be sure to attend the annual Back to School Prayer Walk at 7 p.m., today (Sunday, Aug. 16), at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium. Everyone is invited to walk through the Myrtle Beach school campuses praying for students, teachers, parents, guardians and school staff. The Horry County School District academic year begins Wednesday, August 19.
