It’s What’s Happening Wednesday!
This week, we’re stopping by the Mako Team to see what they’ve been up to!
The Mako students had the opportunity to learn more about one another while building teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving skills through several engaging activities!
Students kicked things off with a fun STEM challenge to build the tallest tower using only index cards. Before using each card, they had to find and write down a similarity they shared with a classmate. They worked together, persevered through challenges, and demonstrated creativity and teamwork throughout the activity.
Students also worked in pairs to complete the classic team-building activity “Save Fred.” They practiced critical thinking and problem-solving while learning to communicate, sync their movements, and rely on one another to reach a common goal.
Additionally, students became familiar with Content Area Vocabulary using the Frayer Model. They defined targeted vocabulary, added their own examples and non-examples, and then presented their words to the class.
It was a great week of connecting, collaborating, and learning together on the Mako Team! 🦈💙
