Somewhere in the United States right now, a mother dog is spending her entire life on wire flooring in an enclosure barely large enough to turn around. She's bred repeatedly with little veterinary care, no chance to run or feel grass beneath her paws. Right now, this is completely legal.

The Puppy Protection Act, H.R. 2253/S. 4437, is our best chance to change that. Humane World for Animals is pushing to make it law, but we need your support to drive meaningful, lasting change. I

f you haven't already, please contact your legislators in support of the Puppy Protection Act now!

The folks in the laboratory animal world take advantage of the good nature of beagles. They get to do whatever they want to the dogs, and they know that there’s no immediate consequence.

Not a scratch from a paw or a bite. Not even a snarl. We must be the ones who snarl. We must fight for them.

Help us end horse slaughter!
Horses need your help.

Every year, tens of thousands of American horses are shipped to slaughter in Mexico and Canada — victims of a predatory trade that thrives on deception and suffering. Kill buyers sweep up horses from auctions and private sellers, often lying about their intentions. The animals are then packed into trucks and hauled for long hours without food, water, or rest, only to face terrifying and violent deaths at slaughter plants.

Congress can stop this. The Save America's Forgotten Equines (SAFE) Act (H.R. 1661 and S. 775) would permanently ban horse slaughter and prohibit the sale or transport of horses and horse parts for human consumption — ending this cruel pipeline once and for all.

The House Agriculture Committee chairman, Congressman GT Thompson, however, blocked consideration of a SAFE Act amendment to the 2026 Farm bill. It may now be time for our congressional allies to initiate a “discharge petition” to bring the SAFE Act straight to the House floor for debate.

Take action now. Ask your members of Congress to cosponsor and pass the SAFE Act and help protect America's horses from needless suffering. Ask House members to support a discharge petition to bring the SAFE Act to the floor for an up-or-down vote in the House.

Thank you Animal Wellness Action

SELC is suing the Trump administration for their unprecedented move to waive Endangered Species Act protections in the Gulf for all oil and gas activities.

“It’s a false choice to have to choose between drilling and endangered species. There is no need for this exemption, period. Oil spills don’t respect offshore boundaries. If you have risky exploratory drilling, the results can end up anywhere in the Gulf of Mexico.” SELC Senior Attorney Catherine Wannamaker told Outside.

On behalf of National Parks Conservation Association, National Wildlife Federation and some of their state affiliates along the Gulf, we’re taking the Trump administration to court.
