We operate shelters for Men, Women, and Families with Children in Myrtle Beach, serving as the primary provider of shelter in Horry County, SC. New Directions also operates the Addiction & Recovery Outreach Initiative (ARO) providing peer support services to Horry & Georgetown counties. Our strategy is to move people from crisis, to connection, to community. Beyond just a bed, a meal, and a safe p
lace, through our programs we help people recover from crisis. Through case management, peer support, and relationships with over 90 partner agencies, we help our clients overcome barriers, develop self-sufficiency, and connect to resources, empowering them to leave homelessness, poverty, and addiction behind and achieve a positive solution: permanent housing, reuniting with family, or long-term recovery. Since our founding in 2013, we have helped shelter over 6,928 Individuals, 392 Families through 423,768 nights of shelter and over 440,000 meals. 3,065 Individuals, 374 Families, have left homelessness behind thanks to New Directions.
