New Directions of Horry County

New Directions of Horry County New Directions is a NPO dedicated to helping people recover from homelessness, poverty, and addiction

We operate shelters for Men, Women, and Families with Children in Myrtle Beach, serving as the primary provider of shelter in Horry County, SC. New Directions also operates the Addiction & Recovery Outreach Initiative (ARO) providing peer support services to Horry & Georgetown counties. Our strategy is to move people from crisis, to connection, to community. Beyond just a bed, a meal, and a safe p

lace, through our programs we help people recover from crisis. Through case management, peer support, and relationships with over 90 partner agencies, we help our clients overcome barriers, develop self-sufficiency, and connect to resources, empowering them to leave homelessness, poverty, and addiction behind and achieve a positive solution: permanent housing, reuniting with family, or long-term recovery. Since our founding in 2013, we have helped shelter over 6,928 Individuals, 392 Families through 423,768 nights of shelter and over 440,000 meals. 3,065 Individuals, 374 Families, have left homelessness behind thanks to New Directions. But this change doesn't happen alone: ending homelessness, poverty and addiction is possible through the support of an empowering community, through people like you, because we believe that Together, Hope Starts Here.

For years, Lee believed his life would never change. He cycled through incarceration, addiction, and homelessness, losing jobs, relationships, and nearly himself along the way. Today, Lee is sober, owns his own business, and is using his story to help others find hope when they feel like there's none left. Read Lee's inspiring story and see how New Directions can change a life. https://helpnewdirections.org/success-stories/lees-story-the-man-i-used-to-be

Our pantry shelves are running low, and we need your help! As the heat intensifies, more individuals seek refuge in our shelters, increasing the number of people we serve and feed each day. Right now, New Directions is in urgent need of canned green beans, corn, and peas to help provide nutritious meals for our residents.
Donations can be dropped off at our Men's Shelter 1005 Osceola St., Monday–Thursday | 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Thank you for helping us keep our pantry stocked and our residents fed.

It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with community partners, share resources, and continue working together to support individuals facing homelessness, poverty, and addiction throughout our community. Thank you to Crossroads Treatment Center for hosting such a meaningful event and for bringing organizations together to strengthen hope, support, and recovery.
