💚💛 **What an Incredible First Year at Pine Island Elementary!** 💛💚

As we close the chapter on the **inaugural year of Pine Island Elementary**, we are filled with gratitude, pride, and excitement for all that we've accomplished together. From the very first day, our students, staff, families, and community have helped build something truly special—a school where relationships matter, learning thrives, and Pelican Pride soars.

This year was filled with unforgettable memories, new traditions, academic growth, celebrations, and countless moments that made us proud to be Pelicans. As we reflect on our first year, we invite you to enjoy this special slideshow showcasing some of the memories that made Pine Island Elementary shine.

🎶 The slideshow is accompanied by a beautiful song created by our talented music teacher, **Mr. Canrobert**, and performed by one of our very own outstanding 5th-grade students, **Sophia**. Their creativity and talent perfectly capture the spirit, heart, and joy of our Pine Island family.

It's time to officially introduce our feathered friend, **Percy the Pelican!** Here at the island, we have taken our time to make sure our mascot's name is something that represents all of our staff and students! 🎉

Percy represents everything that makes our school special—Perseverance, Encouragement, Respect, Creativity, and YOU! Whether he's cheering us on during school events, celebrating student achievements, or encouraging everyone to pick up a good book, Percy is always ready to spread Pelican Pride!

The Pine Island Elementary Summer Reading Challenge officially begins **May 26** and runs through **September 1**. Every book you read is a new adventure waiting to happen, and this summer is the perfect time to keep those reading skills strong while having fun!

📖 Read and log your books in Beanstack (or use a paper reading log)
🏆 Read **8 books** to become a **READCamp Champion**
🏅 Read **12 books** to earn **READCamp MVP** status
🎉 Celebrate your accomplishments when we return to school!
