Whether you're walking, biking, riding the bus, or getting dropped off, we encourage everyone to slow down, stay alert, and look out for one another.

Please take a moment to review the Back-to-School Safety Tips included in the graphic below and help us make safety a priority throughout the school year.

From all of us at the Little Egg Harbor Police Department, have a fun and safe school year!

Dredging continues in the Little Egg Channel, with the dredge located at the southern end of the channel, moving north. The marked pipeline runs west to east from Little Egg Channel across the ICW and State Navigation Channel to Flat Island near LBI (shown in the map). This map is an approximation and is not to be utilized for navigation.

The pipeline is marked with lit pencil buoys, orange Norwegian buoys and channel marker crossing buoys. There are 2 marked crossings with red and green buoys for safe transfer over the pipeline.

Pipelines can be difficult to see and may traverse areas outside of marked channels. Boaters are urged to use extreme caution when operating around marked pipelines and should stay away from all floating equipment. Use extreme caution and SLOW/No Wake Speeds through the construction zone. Use channel 63 to contact the equipment, as necessary.

🚒 Help Us Help You – Please Park Responsibly 🚒

Many of the streets in our community are narrow, especially along the lagoons. When vehicles are parked on both sides of the street, it can make it extremely difficult—or even impossible—for fire trucks, ambulances, and other emergency vehicles to get through.

In an emergency, every second counts. A delay of even a minute can make a significant difference when someone needs help.

When parking on lagoon streets, please:
• Avoid parking directly across from another parked vehicle whenever possible.
• Leave as much room as you can for large emergency vehicles to pass.
• Keep fire hydrants, driveways, and intersections clear.

A fire engine is much wider than most people realize, and it needs extra room to maneuver around corners and parked cars.

We appreciate everyone’s cooperation in helping us keep our neighborhoods safe. Your thoughtful parking could help us reach your family, friends, or neighbors when they need us most.

Thank you for doing your part to keep our streets accessible for emergency responders. 🚒

NJDOT’s Beach Haven West dredging project is set to begin this weekend with work starting in Cedar Run, Ship Bottom, Little Egg, and Harvey Cedars areas of Barnegat Bay. Over 7 miles of pipeline will be both sunk and floating in the Bay. The entire length of pipeline will be marked with buoys and lights.

Pipelines can be difficult to see in certain conditions and may traverse areas outside of marked channels traditionally utilized by local boaters. The public are advised to be aware and use extreme caution when operating around marked pipelines and should stay away from all floating equipment. Use slow/no wake speeds when passing equipment, and use channel 63 to contact the equipment as necessary.
