Residents -

Progress on the 2026 Curb and Valley Gutter Project will begin on Monday, May 18, weather-permitting, with curb replacement and valley gutter installations on Hollybrook Street and Cherrybrook Street. Work is expected to take a couple of days at each location once construction begins. Residents should use caution while driving through these areas and thru traffic should plan alternate routes, if possible.

I encourage all residents to take a few moments to review the information from the City of Nacogdoches’ Capital Improvement Program (CIP) Open House held on May 12, 2026.

The Capital Improvement Program is the City’s long-term plan for investing in critical infrastructure and community improvements, including streets, sidewalks, parks, public safety facilities, and water and wastewater systems. The May 12 open house provided updates on projects funded through the 2023 bond election, including completed projects, projects currently under construction, and those planned for the future.

These investments will shape the future of Nacogdoches for years to come, and I encourage everyone to stay informed and engaged as these important projects move forward.

You can review the full presentation and project information at the provided link.

As always, please feel free to share your thoughts or reach out to me if you have questions about these projects or any other City matters.

Yesterday, I had the honor of being sworn in for my third term as the Nacogdoches City Council representative for the Southwest Ward.

I also want to congratulate my friend and colleague, Blane Williams, on being sworn in for his second term representing the Southeast Ward.

As I reflect on my time on the Council, I’m reminded of what we have accomplished together through the support and involvement of so many in our community. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to serve and look forward to continuing to help lead our city forward.

As always, if I can ever be of assistance, please feel free to reach out by phone or email at (936) 552-1780 or [email protected].

This week we’re celebrating the assistant principals who show up every day ready to handle whatever comes their way!

They’re a steady presence for students, a trusted partner for teachers, and help shape the culture of a campus in so many meaningful ways. We’re truly grateful for the heart you pour into your work and the difference you make in our NISD community. Happy National Assistant Principals Week!

I normally do not use my council page for personal updates, but this one is worth sharing. My dad passed away on Saturday night exactly 5 years after his double lung transplant. He made a tremendous impact in the lives of many in our community as a mental health clinician for Burke for just over 30 years. More than that, he was the best dad that I could have ever asked for. I am heartbroken by the loss we have experienced, but grateful for the time we shared and the example of what service to others should look like. Please keep our family in your prayers.

Celebrate the life of Timothy Huckaby and join others in sharing memories, stories, and condolences.
