Construction of the 2026 Curb and Valley Gutter Project is continuing with the contractor heading to Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard next. Valley gutters installed on single access point streets will be constructed in halves to allow residents continued access to their homes during construction. This will restrict the intersections to one lane width for traffic on those streets. Once those halves have cured, the other halves will be completed.

Traffic should be aware and watchful of these restricted access points. Thru traffic should plan alternate routes, if possible. Intersections included in this work include Timberlake Street on the east side of MLK, Cariker Street on both sides of MLK, Orton Street on both sides of MLK, Meisenheimer Street on the south side of MLK and Nannie Street at Meisenheimer Street. Work is expected to take a few days at each location once construction begins.

The City is still working to return tank levels to normal. Compliance with the water conservation request for residents in the northeast part of town this weekend has been very much appreciated. We understand that yards are needing water right now and the City is relaxing conservation requests temporarily to allow irrigation tonight to relieve those lawns. If you have held off on watering the past few days, thank you!

Please feel free to water tonight and we’d request that be done between the hours of 10:00 PM and 4 AM, if possible. If you have continued to irrigate over the past few days, we respectfully request that you hold off of watering so that others can have the opportunity without significantly straining the water supply as we continue to recover our tank levels. Again, we appreciate your water conservation efforts over the past few days!
