An ongoing investigation into child po*******hy has resulted in the arrest of Jacob Elisha Giles from Nacogdoches, Texas. In June of 2026, the Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s Office received information from the Texas Attorney General’s Office about possible child po*******hy being downloaded over the internet.

The Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s Office is a part of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force with the Texas Attorney General’s Office. After obtaining information from ICAC, investigators started conducting an ongoing investigation and identified a suspect living in an apartment complex on Pearl Street.

A search warrant was obtained for Giles's residence. During the ex*****on of the search warrant, investigators found clear evidence on electronic devices belonging to Giles of Child Po*******hy. Giles was arrested at the scene and transported to the Nacogdoches County Jail.

At the time, Giles was charged with one count of Possession or promotion of child Po*******hy and booked into the county jail on June 30, 2026. During the short term of the investigation, investigators found more evidence of child po*******hy, and an additional charge was placed on Giles on July 6, 2026, for Possession of Child Po*******hy, a 1st degree felony.

Electronic devices belonging to Giles were sent off for more forensic analysis. Investigators recently received that information from those analyses, which has led to additional charges being placed. Giles has been subsequently charged with the following:
Three more counts of Possession or promotion of child po*******hy, a 1st-degree felony, and one count of be******ty, a state jail felony. The total bond on all charges has been set at $575,000.00.

Jacob Giles, 31 years of age, remains in the Nacogdoches County Jail at this time. All charges have been sent to the Nacogdoches District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.

The Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s Office would like to extend a sincere thank you to our Texas State Representative Joanne Shofner and her staff. We recently had a very young adult in our jail on a minor offense who was in severe need of mental health services. Our mental health authority did everything possible to get this young man placed, but there were certain obstacles and challenges that we could not overcome for placement. I reached out to our state representative for assistance in meeting those challenges. Within a matter of hours, we saw the atmosphere start to change and new conversations taking a positive turn. A couple of days later, we secured placement for the young man in a state hospital so he could get the help he needed.

State Representative Shofner personally followed up with me each day about what was going on and everything her office was doing to help. We would also like to extend a shout-out to State Senator Robert Nichols' office, which also assisted in this matter.

I cannot go into detail about the situation, but I want the public to know how much I appreciate our local state officials and the help they give us. Placement for this young man would not have happened in such a short time span without their assistance. This young man would have continued to deteriorate and wither away in jail, while placing a heavy burden on our jail staff and a huge liability for our citizens.

Our State Representative did not stop there; her staff stopped by today to check in on us and feed the troops. The food was great, but most of all, thank you for all you do to represent our community.

SCAM ALERT: Pictures attached are a Scam: Jury Duty Scam
I posted about the Jury Scam about a month ago. This scam is still very active here in Nacogdoches County. Scammers are becoming very persuasive and are now texting people AI-generated pamphlets over the phone to try to convince them to pay money.

No matter whether it is federal or local government, you will not be contacted by your local law enforcement or federal law enforcement if you miss jury duty. You will not be threatened with arrest by law enforcement if you miss jury duty. Local court and federal court will always contact you by mail about jury duty service. Law Enforcement will never demand money to pay a fine for missing jury duty. Those fines can only be imposed by a judge while you are in front of a judge.

These scammers will try to sound very official and will become very threatening. They may even try to impersonate a person at a local law enforcement agency. This is all an attempt to get your hard-earned money. Government entities will always contact you by mail for jury duty. Always contact your local law enforcement if you ever have any questions or doubts about the person you are speaking with.

The attached pictures are some of the latest documents these scammers have made with AI technology. Please do not hesitate to reach out to your local law enforcement if you ever have any questions. Law enforcement will not solicit money over the phone or ever threaten you with arrest if you do not pay. Law enforcement is not a collection point for fines. If anyone demands money and claims to be a law enforcement officer, I can assure you it is a scam.

Missing Person:
The Texas Parks and Wildlife, the Texas Department of Public Safety, and the Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s Office are searching for Jason Patrick Hogard, 44 years of age. Jason Hogard advised family members that he was going on a Kayaking trip yesterday afternoon.

During the trip, Hogard was updating a family member along his journey on the Angelina River. His last communication was that he had stumbled across another creek and was going in the wrong direction. Hogard sent a location ping yesterday afternoon that possibly identified him in the area of Cr. 2604, the Angelina River, near Gibbons Creek and Bingham Creek. It is believed that Hogard’s phone ran out of battery and is no longer operational.

Jason Hogard is a white male, 6 feet 3 inches tall, with brown hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a white shirt, and work boots. Hogard's kayak is gray.

The Texas Department of Public Safety has allotted air resources to the area to help continue the search for Hogard.

The Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s Office requests that all citizens who live near this area or are traveling in this area be on the lookout for Hogard.

All public schools will start tomorrow, except Central Heights ISD, which will start on August 19. Please use caution when driving to work in the morning. School zones will be heavily congested with traffic. Please watch for school buses and our children. Motorist are encouraged to prepare for delays and leave earlier than usual to allow ample time to arrive at their destination. Law enforcement will be conducting traffic enforcement in school zones. Unmarked CID units will monitor school buses in the county and conduct traffic enforcement.

See the following Burn Ban Order passed by the Commissioners Court this morning: This is effective immediately.

ORDER RESTRICTING OUTDOOR BURNING
WHEREAS, the Texas Forest Service has determined that drought conditions exist within the county; and
WHEREAS, the Commissioners Court finds that circumstances present in all or part of the unincorporated area of the county create a public safety hazard that would be exacerbated by
outdoor burning;
IT IS HEREBY ORDERED by the Commissioners Court of Nacogdoches County that all outdoor burning is prohibited in the unincorporated area of the county for 90 days from the date
of adoption of this Order, unless the restrictions are terminated earlier based on a determination made by: (1) the Texas Forest Service that drought conditions no longer exist; (2) the
Commissioners Court; (3) or the County Judge based on a determination that the circumstances that required the Order no longer exist.
This Order is adopted pursuant to Local Government Code §352.081, and other applicable statutes. This Order does not prohibit outdoor burning activities related to public health and safety that are authorized by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality for: (1) firefighter training; (2) public utility, natural gas pipeline, or mining operations; (3) planting or harvesting of agricultural crops; or, (4) bums that are conducted by a prescribed burn manager certified under Natural Resources Code §153.048 and meet the standards of Natural Resources Code §153.047.
This Order does not prohibit outdoor cooking provided the grill or smoker is placed on a concrete, gravel or dirt surface and is at least five (5) feet from any combustible materials.
In accordance with Local Government Code §352.081(h), a violation of this Order is a Class C misdemeanor, punishable by a fine not to exceed $500.00

Missing Person:
The Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public's help in locating Lillie Stinson, 23 years of age, who has been reported missing from the Garrison area. Stinson was reported missing on Friday, 7-24-2026, and entered as a missing person. Due to information received, the Sheriff’s Office believes her disappearance poses a credible threat to her own health and safety. Due to this factor, a Clear alert has been issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The Sheriff’s Office received information that Lillie Stinson received a ride from the Garrison area to Nacogdoches late Friday night and stayed at a Motel 6 located at 4809 NW Stallings Drive. Sheriff Deputies received the information Saturday morning around 10:00 am, but Stinson had checked out and left the Motel sometime early that morning.

Investigators are unsure at this time if Stinson departed the motel on foot or by vehicle. If anyone has any information on Stinson, you are asked to call the Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s Office dispatch at 936-559-2607.

Lillie Stinson is a white female, 5 feet and 4 inches tall, about 120 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a red shirt, blue pants, and no shoes.

Jury Scam:
We are receiving many calls from our residents about an ongoing attempted scam. The Jury Scam has been around for a long time, where the scammer threatens you with being arrested because you missed jury duty. Then, of course, they demand that you pay a fine or threaten you with being arrested. They will often try to use the name of someone at the Sheriff's Office and pose as a deputy.

Please do not give anyone any money over the phone or any identifying information. Do not go to the store and load any money on a card or any other method. County, State, or Federal Government does not operate or function in this manner. Government entities will never demand money over the phone in the Criminal Justice system.

These scammers will try to sound very official and will become very threatening. This is all an attempt to get your hard-earned money. Government entities will always contact you by mail for jury duty. Always contact your local law enforcement if you ever have any questions or doubts about the person you are speaking with
