..RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM FRIDAY TO 1 AM CDT SATURDAY
DUE TO GUSTY WINDS, LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY, AND CRITICALLY DRY FUELS
FOR PORTIONS OF SOUTH CENTRAL AND SOUTHWEST ARKANSAS, NORTH CENTRAL
AND NORTHWEST LOUISIANA, SOUTHEAST OKLAHOMA, AND EAST AND NORTHEAST
TEXAS...

The National Weather Service in Shreveport LA has issued a Red Flag Warning in effect from 10 AM Friday to 1 AM CDT Saturday.

* AFFECTED AREA...Portions of south central and southwest Arkansas, north central and northwest Louisiana, southeast Oklahoma, and east and northeast Texas.

* 𝐓𝐈𝐌𝐈𝐍𝐆...𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝟏𝟎 𝐀𝐌 𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝟏 𝐀𝐌 𝐂𝐃𝐓 𝐒𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐝𝐚𝐲.

* WINDS...North winds 10 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...Minimum Relative Humidity between 25 to 35 percent.

* IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will spread rapidly. 𝐎𝐮𝐭𝐝𝐨𝐨𝐫 𝐛𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐝.

Follow all fire restrictions. One less spark, one less wildfire. A Red Flag Warning is issued when we identify weather conditions that promote rapid spread of fire which may become life-threatening. This does not mean there is a fire. These conditions are either occurring now or will begin soon. It is important to have multiple ways to receive information from authorities.

We want to extend our thoughts and prayers with the Hudson Volunteer Fire Department and the friends and family of Mike "Big Mike" Smith.

Hudson VFD has lost a great friend, a brother, and a longtime member of our department, Mike “Big Mike” Smith.

Mike passed away last night following a medical emergency. He dedicated more than 30 years of his life to the fire department and was a huge part of our annual Haunted House for more than 25 years. His dedication, friendship, and countless contributions to our department and community will never be forgotten.

Mike will be dearly missed by all of us who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside him.

Please keep Mike’s family, friends, and the entire Hudson VFD family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Rest easy, brother. We’ll take it from here. 🚒❤️

Per Nacogdoches County Emergency Management

Nacogdoches County Commissioners issued an Order Restricting Outdoor Burning during today’s regularly scheduled meeting. The ban prohibits outdoor burning in unincorporated parts of the county for 90 days unless lifted sooner.
The ban does NOT apply to outdoor cooking provided the grill or smoker is placed on a concrete, gravel or dirt surface at least 5 feet away from any combustible materials.
Violations of the ban are a Class-C misdemeanor.
