October is National Principal Appreciation Month, and McMichael Middle School has the absolute best! 🏆

If you’ve been around McMichael, you’ve probably seen Mr. Fonzie doing what he does best—showing up for our students and staff. Whether he’s in the halls giving high-fives and fist bumps, in the cafeteria helping sweep after lunch, or in classrooms coaching and supporting teachers as they strive to be their best, Mr. Fonzie leads by example every single day.

This year, we’re In the Studio: Producing Excellence—and there’s no better example of that than our principal! 🎥⭐ Mr. Fonzie is always behind the scenes, on the front lines, and everywhere in between, helping our students and staff shine.

We are incredibly thankful for all that Mr. Fonzie does for McMichael and the heart he brings to our campus each day.

We are so excited to welcome our exchange students from Amami Oshima, Japan who are visiting McMichael and living with host families for the week. They have been busy attending school with their host sibling and experiencing all the amazing treats that Nacogdoches has to offer.

Today they met Mayor Randy Johnson, toured the Fire station and met firefighters, painted pottery at Muddy Pants, tried Chick fil A for the first time and enjoyed Susu’s popcorn and gelato from Aperitvo.

We are excited to invite you to our Open House on September 29th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM! This is a wonderful opportunity to meet your student's teacher, tour our facility, and learn more about what we offer here at school.

We will also be hosting a Title I & Stakeholder Engagement Meeting at 6:00 PM in the Cafeteria. We encourage you to attend if you would like to learn more about our Title I programs and initiatives.

This is a come and go event and we look forward to seeing you there!

Today, our campus was full of school spirit, sweet treats, and real-world learning!

Dragon Spirit Day!
Several of our students showed up ready to represent their school with plenty of Dragon Spirit! We love seeing that school pride!🖤💛 🏈📣

Friday Café!
Ms. Church’s class hosted their FIRST Friday Café, giving students an exciting opportunity to practice valuable real-world and vocational skills! Students followed directions, measured ingredients, prepared food, worked as a team, communicated, took orders, and delivered treats to our staff. Today’s menu was Apple Nachos and Apple Crisps! 🍎🍏🍂

These are the moments that make learning come alive! We’re so proud of our students and staff for creating meaningful opportunities to learn, lead, and grow!

Dolly Day — 9-2-5!
Our amazing PTO treated our staff to the sweetest pink treats as we celebrated Dolly Parton Day! We’re pretty sure Dolly would approve! 🎀🥤✨

🔍 The Case of the Missing Takis: SOLVED! 🕵️‍♂️🔥

Our 8th Grade math detectives were on the case yesterday! To master identifying corresponding angles and proportional sides in similar figures, students stepped into the shoes of forensic investigators to solve the ultimate mystery: Who took the Takis?

By setting up ratios, matching corresponding angles, and calculating missing side lengths, students decoded the scale-factor clues left at the scene to catch the thief.

Seeing our students so engaged, collaborating, and making math connections while having fun is what learning is all about.
