Message from Brantley County EMS Chief:
BCEMS will be operating and serving the community during the upcoming storm. BCEMS is preparing to have all three medic units operating. Please be aware that when you call 911 for a medical emergency, it may take longer than normal for EMS to arrive due to the weather. Please be patient with our amazing staff while they are working during the storm. The only reason that BCEMS would not be operating is if the wind speed reaches a sustained speed of 45 mph. When the wind speed reaches 45 mph it is unsafe for the crews to operate safely on the roadways. Also, the Sidney Lanier Bridge will close when wind speeds reach 35 mph. We will be monitoring the roads on the east side of the county, if they are flooding it may take longer to reach your location.
If a person is on home oxygen with an oxygen generator or on a home ventilator, please ensure they have extra portable oxygen bottles. This is just in case of possible extended power outages and will allow them to continue their oxygen therapy. BCEMS will not be able to leave oxygen bottles, we will transport the patient to the hospital. Anyone that is on a home ventilator, if you could please contact BCEMS at the number listed below with your name and address. If you get the voice mail, please leave a message with the information. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact BCEMS at 912-462-5380.
Thank you and stay safe.
