There are a few changes to the earlier weather update as far the winds. There could be some wind gust between 30-40 mph, but nothing sustained.

They are still expecting several inches of rain through tomorrow. By Sunday it should be sunny and clear.

There are risks for tornadoes this evening and tomorrow.

Please keep Central GA and SW GA in your thoughts, they will be getting hit pretty hard it looks like.

SCRAP TIRE EVENT RESCHEDULED – New Date: Saturday, October 24

Due to heavy rain, high winds, and lightning expected in our area, the Brantley County Transfer Station will be CLOSED Saturday, October 10.

The Saturday tire event make-up day will be:

TIRE DISPOSAL FEES:
Passenger car and pickup tires – $2.00 per tire
Truck (semi tractor-trailer) tires – $5.00 per tire
Tractor (farm) and heavy equipment (tree farmer/logging) tires – $10.00 per tire

Flood Warning in effect from late Saturday night until further notice.

Satilla River at Atkinson affecting Brantley County.

Flood Watch in effect from 2 pm this afternoon through Saturday evening at 8 pm.

Hurricane Isaias is passing west of the area will bring waves of moderate to heavy rainfall across SE GA this afternoon and overnight into much of Saturday. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are expected with locally higher amounts up to 5 inches possible.

Governor Kemp has issued a State of Emergency for 159 Georgia counties in anticipation of Hurricane Isaias. It is effective immediately and remains in effect through 11:59 p.m. Thursday, October 15, 2026, unless renewed.

October 8th Weather Update

Hurricane Isaias is getting stronger in the Gulf and is expected to move north toward the Florida Panhandle on Friday.

As it gets closer, heavy rain and strong winds will return to our area Friday and Saturday.

On Saturday, severe storms are possible. These storms could bring damaging winds and brief tornadoes.

Our ground is already soaked from recent rain, so flooding can happen faster than usual. There is a low risk (Level 1 of 4) for flash flooding starting Friday.

We will continue to monitor Isaias and share updates as conditions change

Weather Update for Brantley County | Wednesday, October 7

The National Weather Service in Jacksonville reports that Tropical Storm Isaias is not expected to bring direct impacts to our area.

The heaviest rain today is focused on northeast Florida. Areas north of Interstate 10 should see a much drier day on Thursday.

Rain chances return Friday and Saturday as tropical moisture from the storm spreads back over the region, bringing another risk of flash flooding.

We will share the next update after the National Weather Service briefing Thursday morning.

MONITORING TROPICAL DEPRESSION #9

Tropical Depression #9 has formed in the southwestern Gulf and is forecast to become a hurricane by Thursday before turning north toward the Gulf Coast. Landfall is possible anywhere from southeastern Louisiana to the western Florida Panhandle on Friday.

Impacts to Georgia are still uncertain. The current forecast calls for 3 to 6 inches of rain south of I-20, including Brantley County, with possible flash flooding Friday night through Sunday morning. An eastward shift in the track would mean greater impacts for our area.

Please take the next few days to prepare for heavy rain, flooding, and possible wind. We will share more updates as the forecast becomes more clear.

Weather Update for Tuesday, October 6

Brantley County is not currently under a Flash Flood Watch. A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for Camden County.

The heaviest rainfall today is expected to remain south of Waycross. A low pressure system forming along a stalled front will strengthen and move offshore through Wednesday, bringing periods of heavy rain to the region tonight through Wednesday night. Winds are expected to ease on Thursday.

The risk of flooding rainfall returns Friday and Saturday as moisture increases across the area. Residents are encouraged to monitor conditions and avoid driving through flooded roadways.
