Before heading out for trick-or-treating or Halloween festivities, keep these tips in mind:

👕 Choose the right fit: Make sure costumes fit properly and aren’t too long or loose to help prevent trips and falls.

👀 Keep vision clear: Avoid masks or accessories that can block or limit your child’s vision. Consider non-toxic face paint as a safer alternative.

🧹 Choose safe props: If your child is carrying a costume prop, make sure it is soft, flexible, and lightweight to help prevent injuries.

🚨 ATTENTION, BRANTLEY COUNTY CITIZENS 🚨

The Brantley County Sheriff’s Office will be conducting ACTIVE SHOOTER TRAINING on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at Lulaton Baptist Church, Waynesville Baptist Church, and other churches throughout Brantley County.

During this training, citizens may notice an increased presence of deputies, patrol vehicles, and investigators in these areas.

This is a planned training exercise for law enforcement personnel and is being conducted for training purposes only.

ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE – GRIFFIN SCHOOL ROAD

The Brantley County Road Department has made the Brantley County E911 Center aware of a partial road closure in the area of the 1300 block of Griffin School Road, extending toward the intersection of Griffin School Road and O.G. Lee Road.

Due to the heavy amounts of rainfall from recent weather conditions, a drainage pipe in this area needs to be replaced. Road Department crews will be working to make the necessary repairs.

Please be aware that this closure could potentially remain in place through the weekend.

Motorists are encouraged to avoid the affected area when possible, use alternate routes, and use caution around crews and equipment.

We will provide additional information as it becomes available from the Brantley County Road Department.

NOTICE OF TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE
Little Buffalo Creek Road at the Bridge
Please be advised that Little Buffalo Creek Road will be closed to through traffic during daytime hours from Wednesday, September 30, through Friday, October 2, 2026, while soil testing is conducted near the bridge.
Motorists are encouraged to plan accordingly and use an alternate route while work is underway.
We appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation while this necessary work is being completed.

CONTROLLED BURN NOTICE – NAHUNTA AREA

The Brantley County E911 Center has been notified that the Georgia Forestry Commission is conducting an approximately 88-acre controlled burn in the area of Buffalo Creek Drive in Nahunta.

There is no cause for alarm. This is a planned and controlled burn.

Smoke from the burn may be noticeable southeast of the airport and throughout the Buffalo Creek Drive area. As temperatures cool this evening and overnight, smoke could settle into low-lying areas and potentially create reduced or low visibility on area roadways.

Please use extra caution if traveling through the area, especially tonight and during the early morning hours. Slow down, use your headlights when visibility is reduced, and remain alert for changing conditions.

Please remember that smoke associated with this controlled burn is expected. Only call 9-1-1 if you observe an actual emergency or an uncontrolled fire.

We will provide additional information if conditions change.

RAILROAD CROSSING CLOSURE – PLEASE PLAN AHEAD

The Brantley County E911 Center has been notified just now that CSX will be performing work at the railroad crossing located at Highway 82 & Central Avenue.

The crossing will be CLOSED for approximately the next 3 days while crews complete the necessary work.

Motorists should plan ahead and use an alternate route during the closure. Please allow additional travel time and use caution around crews and equipment working in the area.

We will provide additional information if there are any changes to the expected closure.
