The Brantley County E911 Center has received updates from Verizon Wireless and AT&T that the cellular service issues affecting our area have been resolved.

If you continue to experience difficulty placing a phone call, including a call to 9-1-1, please try again. If your voice call to 9-1-1 will not go through, you may still be able to TEXT 9-1-1.

If texting 9-1-1:

* Include the location of the emergency in your first message.
* Briefly explain what is happening.
* Stay near your phone and respond to any questions from the 9-1-1 Telecommunicator.
* Call if you can — text if you can’t.

ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE – CSX RAILROAD CROSSING

The Brantley County E911 Center has been notified by CSX that crews will be performing work at the railroad crossing located at Hwy 301 & Break Road.

The railroad crossing at this location will be CLOSED for approximately the next 2–3 days while work is being completed.

Motorists who normally travel through this area are encouraged to plan ahead and use an alternate route. Please allow additional travel time and use caution around crews and equipment working in the area.

We will provide additional information if any updates or changes are received from CSX.

CELLULAR SERVICE INTERRUPTION – 9-1-1 CALLING

The Brantley County E911 Center has been notified that Verizon Wireless and AT&T are currently experiencing service interruptions in our area. These interruptions may make it difficult for some customers to place phone calls, including calls to 9-1-1.

📱 If you have an emergency and your voice call to 9-1-1 will not go through, remember that you may still be able to TEXT 9-1-1.

⚠️ SMOKE ADVISORY – USE CAUTION ⚠️

Please be aware of low-lying smoke in the area between Bazley Road and Schlatterville Road resulting from a controlled burn conducted earlier today.

Smoke may continue to settle into low-lying areas throughout the night and into the early morning hours, potentially reducing visibility along area roadways.

Motorists are urged to use extra caution, slow down, use headlights when necessary, and be prepared for sudden reductions in visibility.

GDOT has been notified and will be putting out signs.

Please use caution if traveling through this area tonight or early tomorrow morning.

🔥 UPDATE 00:33– HIGHWAY 121 / OBERRY ROAD FIRE 🔥

All Hoboken Volunteer Fire Department and Georgia Forestry Commission units have cleared the scene of the fire in the area of Highway 121 and Oberry Road.

⚠️ Motorists should continue to use caution in the area. There is a possibility of smoke lingering and moving across the roadway throughout the next several hours, which could cause reduced visibility at times.

Please slow down, use headlights if encountering smoke, and remain alert while traveling through the area.

🔥 FIRE RESPONSE – HIGHWAY 121 / OBERRY ROAD 🔥

The Hoboken Volunteer Fire Department and Georgia Forestry Commission are currently on scene of a fire in the tree line in the area of Highway 121 and Oberry Road.

⚠️ Please use caution while traveling Highway 121 in this area. Fire crews and emergency vehicles are operating along and near the roadway.

Please slow down, stay alert, and give emergency personnel plenty of room to work safely.

🚨 SCAM ALERT – PLEASE SHARE 🚨

The Brantley County Sheriff's Office has received reports of scammers calling people and falsely claiming that a family member or friend is in jail and needs money to be released.

DO NOT FALL FOR THIS SCAM.

❌ We DO NOT call anyone requesting bail money.
❌ We DO NOT accept bail payments over the phone.
✅ If someone needs to be bonded out of jail, you must come in person to complete the process.

These scammers are using fear and urgency to pressure people into sending money. If you receive one of these calls, do not send money or provide any personal or financial information.

Please help protect your family, friends, and neighbors by sharing this post. Together, we can keep our community informed and prevent more people from becoming victims.

Stop. Think. Verify. Don't give scammers your money.

UPDATE 10:31– Verizon Cellular Service Issues

The Brantley County E911 Center has received updated information regarding the ongoing Verizon cellular service outage.

At this time, the issue has been narrowed down primarily to the Hortense, Georgia area. Verizon continues working to resolve the problem; however, there is still no estimated timeframe for when service will be fully restored.

If you are in the affected area and are experiencing difficulty calling 9-1-1 or our non-emergency number, (912) 462-9131, please remember that you may still have enough service to text 911. If you need emergency assistance and cannot place a voice call, send a text to 911 with your emergency, your location, and any other important information.

We appreciate your patience and will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.

The Brantley County E911 Center has been notified that Verizon is currently experiencing known cellular tower issues affecting some customers. Verizon is aware of the problem and is actively working to resolve it.

If you are experiencing difficulty calling 9-1-1 or our non-emergency number, (912) 462-9131, you may still have enough cellular service to text 911. If you are unable to place a voice call, please attempt to send a text message to 911 with your emergency, location, and any other important information.

At this time, Verizon has not provided an estimated timeframe for when service will be fully restored.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as Verizon works to correct the issue. We will provide updates as additional information becomes available.
