Please avoid burning today.

The National Weather Service reports elevated fire danger in Pulaski County due to low humidity, warm temps, dry fuels, and breezy winds this afternoon into early evening.

Fires can spread quickly and become unpredictable.

Reminder: Burning is illegal between 6 AM and 6 PM within 150 feet of woodland or brushland during Kentucky’s Spring Fire Season (through April 30).

• A Red Flag Warning is in effect until 7 PM EDT.
• Southwest winds 10–25 mph with gusts up to 35–50 mph are expected.
• Humidity will drop to 20–30%, creating very dry fire conditions.
• Because of the strong winds and low humidity, any fire that starts can spread rapidly.

Good afternoon, Pulaski County,

As promised, we are rolling out a new Emergency Notification system, powered by RAVE Technologies, a Motorola Company. All you will need to do is click on the link provided and it will take you to a new page where you will fill out the information requested. It shouldn't take more than a few minutes. Once you have completed this, you will start receiving weather alerts from the U.S. National Weather Service out of Jackson, Kentucky and local alerts that may be put out for non-weather emergencies like Golden Alerts, road closures, train derailments, etc… by Pulaski County Emergency Management or Pulaski County 9-1-1.

There is NO phone app required to receive the alerts. Once you register, within an hour, you will be in the RAVE system and get critical information and updates. We recommend you use a strong password when setting up RAVE’s Smart911.

If you have CodeRED on your phone, you can go ahead and delete it. Pulaski County is no longer affiliated with that service.

Stay safe out there.
