Traffic Pattern Change: May 13-18, 2026
Event: May 14-17, 2026

The traffic pattern around Wilkes-Barre’s Public Square will change for the duration of the 2026 Fine Arts Fiesta. Traffic pattern changes will start on the morning of Wednesday, May 13th at 9:00 AM and will end on the morning of Monday, May 18th.

Below is the traffic pattern for the duration of the 2026 Fine Arts Fiesta:

•West Market Street closed off at South Franklin Street

•Public Square, West Market Street to South Main Street, closed to traffic

•From South Main Street, traffic onto Public Square will exit from the Square onto either East Market Street or North Main Street

•From East Market Street, traffic onto Public Square will exit from the Square on to North Main Street

•From North Main Street, no access around Public Square

•All traffic will be directed across Butler Lane (alley by the former Martz terminal) to South Washington Street

Check the LCCC website for updates on weather related delays and cancellations https://www.luzerne.edu/default.jsp If there’s a compressed schedule, ALTA classes that normally start at 9 or 9:30, will begin at 10 am. If LCCC is closed, ALTA classes will be cancelled.

Help us fill the shelves for local families — we’re a drop-off site for the Valley With a Heart Food Drive!

Now through October 31, you can drop off kid-centered, shelf-stable foods at United Way of Wyoming Valley (100 N. Pennsylvania Blvd., Wilkes-Barre) or any of the locations listed below.

Your donations will help families right here in our community and ensure local children have what they need.

Items needed include:
- Mini muffins, boxed mac & cheese, fruit cups, pudding, and applesauce
- Chips, pretzels, ramen cups, small boxes of cereal, and protein bars

Let’s come together to make sure no child goes hungry! 💙

Due to the federal government shutdown, SNAP benefits will not be paid until the federal government provides funding for SNAP, and we are unable to begin the 2025-26 LIHEAP season.

For immediate needs during the shutdown, Pennsylvanians can use PA Navigate at pa-navigate.org to help find resources. Local help is also available by visiting pa211.org. For utility assistance, Pennsylvanians can search “utility assistance” at https://www.puc.pa.gov/ or contact their utility companies directly to see what programs are available.

Today, we will be celebrating with the 24-25 ALTA students who earned their high school equivalency by passing the GED tests. We couldn’t be more proud of them. This journey wasn’t always easy, but every late night, every challenge, and every ounce of effort was worth it.
