The City of Napa Fire Department serves a population of 80,000 people out of 5 fire stations. The NFD responded to 9700 calls for assistance in 2020 and is a full-service fire department, providing medical, fire and specialized response 24/7. **Update**

Our Napa Fire Department personnel assigned to OES Strike Team 2802A have been released from the Round Butte Fire in Oregon and reassigned to Spokane, Washington, to assist with ongoing wildfire suppression efforts there.

We are proud of their continued service and commitment to helping communities in need. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and communities impacted by these devastating fires.

🚒 Welcome, E8! 🚒

Today marks an exciting milestone as the Napa Fire Department officially takes delivery of E8, our new Type 3 Wildland Fire Engine.

This project represents months of planning and teamwork, and we want to thank everyone who helped bring it to the finish line.

Over the coming weeks, crews will complete training and final equipment installation before E8 enters service.

We’re proud to add this valuable resource to our fleet and look forward to putting E8 to work protecting the Napa community.

This week, firefighters from the Napa Fire Department had the opportunity to participate in a prescribed burn alongside our partners at CAL FIRE/Napa County Fire, off Wild Horse Valley Rd.

These prescription burns provide invaluable hands-on experience, allowing our firefighters to sharpen their wildland firefighting skills, gain practical knowledge, and prepare for the challenges of the upcoming fire season. Opportunities like these help ensure we're ready to protect our community when wildfire incidents occur.

A big thank you to CAL FIRE Sonoma-Lake-Napa Unit for the invitation and for your continued partnership. We appreciate the opportunity to train together and strengthen our regional response capabilities.

This morning the NFD responded to a garbage truck fire in north Napa. This incident is a good reminder to properly dispose of lithium-ion batteries, hot ashes or smoldering items. Please do not discard them into the trash as they can ignite either in the truck contents (as in this case) or can create a problem at the transfer station.

Recently, the Napa Interagency Rescue Team (NIRT) conducted a unique and challenging rescue training exercise at the First Street Hotel project in downtown Napa.

Utilizing the site's 150-foot tower cranes, team members trained on a simulated rescue involving a crane operator who had suffered a medical emergency while working at height. The scenario required the rescuers to access the operator and safely lower them to the ground, testing both technical rescue skills and ingenuity.
This training provided valuable experience in a complex environment and helped ensure our team remains prepared for emergencies in any setting.

A special thank you to The Build Group for allowing us to use the site and for their outstanding support throughout the exercise. Partnerships like these help us strengthen our capabilities and better serve our community.

Please join us in congratulating Firefighter Joe Russo on a well deserved retirement after 27 years! Joe leaves a huge legacy in NFD, from being leader of many programs like Hands Only CPR and CERT. Joe was also a very active member in the firefighters union NCFA local 3124. He was also a mentor to many of our firefighters, a great friend and best cook on A shift! His professionalism, dedication and work ethic were some of the many attributes that made him a great firefighter, but most importantly an awesome member of the Napa Fire Department family. Joe, best of luck in the next chapter and we all thank you! Happy retirement!
