On Sunday, August 23rd, 2026, Napa PD patrol officers attempted to contact a suspect in the 100 block of Silverado Trail who was known to have an active warrant for his arrest. Officers were aware the suspect was restrained from being at the residence however believed he was staying there in violation of the court order. When officers knocked on the door, the suspect began barricading the door, ignored officers’ commands to exit, and made threats that he had a firearm. Officers learned that the victim in the restraining order was inside of the residence, and they believed the suspect was not letting her exit on her own free will. Officers eventually entered the residence and were able to assist the victim outside. While inside of the residence, the suspect exited a room and confronted officers in the hallway where he ignored commands and told officers to shoot him. A police K9 was deployed to assist with the arrest. Even after the K9 was deployed, the suspect continued to violently resist officers, however officers were able to safely take him into custody. After the arrest, officer located a replica firearm along with drug paraphernalia in the area where the suspect was barricaded. Erik Schoch (37, Napa) was arrested on multiple charges.
