Napa Library Foundation

Napa Library Foundation As a public institution that benefits all people, either directly or indirectly, our Libraries receive public funds to provide basic support.

The Napa City-County Library Foundation is a non-profit, 501 © (3) organization that exists to raise and manage contributions used solely for the augmentation of public funds in the operation and expansion of library services. The Library Foundation is comprised of community volunteers who care deeply about one of the Napa Valley's most important and free-to-the-public resources: our Libraries. S

erving the cities of Napa, American Canyon, Calistoga, Yountville and the unincorporated areas of Napa County, the Napa City County Library partnership provides people of all ages with a source of life-long learning, enjoyment and community pride. However, in these days of diminishing financial resources and increased use, it becomes more challenging for the Library to meet the demand for services without supplemental funding,

The Library Foundation helps fund specific needs to strengthen Library services and offerings.

Napa County Library

I remember being a young child and going to events at the Napa County Library with my mother. This began a lifelong love of reading and books.

Please do everything you can to support the Napa County library!

Today, the Napa County Board of Supervisors recognized the week of April 19-25 as National Library Week. This year's theme, 'Find Your Joy', highlights the many ways libraries spark curiosity, creativity and connection in our communities. The board encouraged residents to visit their nearest Napa County Library in person or online to see the wide range of services that make our local library system such a valuable resource for our community.

Photo: The Board is joined by Napa County Library Director Anthony Halstead, Napa County Library staff, representatives from the Calistoga, Napa, and Yountville Friends of the Napa Library, Foundation President Frances Houser, and Library Commissioner Myrna David.

Thank you to the Napa County Library Foundation for their generous gift to support library services throughout the county!

The Foundation’s contribution supports Press Reader (one of our online magazine vendors), our Library of Things collection (have you checked out a puzzle or telescope lately?), our Consumer Reports database (which blender really *is* the best?) and much more.

Here’s their President, Frances Houser, along with other members giving their check to Breanna Feliciano, the Library’s Assistant Director.

Did you know that, for six years, the Napa Library displayed a collection called Unorthodox Taxidermy by Theodore Geisel, a.k.a. Dr. Seuss?

This collection of 16 pieces was donated to the Napa County Library Foundation and the Napa County Library by Dr. Sarah Aylard, DDS, and Dr. Steve Aylard, DDS, in 2018.

A rotating portion of the collection, along with a Look Magazine article about them from 1938, is on view at 1127 1st Street, right outside the Assessor’s office, across from Dwight Murray Plaza.

Learn more about this collection on our website 👉 https://www.countyofnapa.org/3719/Unorthodox-Taxidermy
