Stewart Ranch

Stewart Ranch We are a beef ranch located in the Napa Valley. The Stewart Ranch was established in the late 1990s as a beef ranch. We specialize in Belted Galloway cows.

The Stewart Ranch was purchased in 1904. It has been family owned
and operated for 4 generations. The current stewardship of the ranch is managed
by Paul and Ailene Pritchett Tarap. Ailene is the great granddaughter of John
Stewart who immigrated from Scotland with the intent of purchasing his own
property. Both Paul and Ailene's family have been in the Napa Valley cattle business
since the early

1900's. The introduction of the Belted Galloway to the ranch was
in 1987 with the initial purchase of a small herd. The ability of the breed to be
sustainable and flavorful was intriguing over the higher fat commercial breeds. The Stewart Ranch herd has been featured on "Good Morning America" and numerous news articles and magazines. The herd is located in the beautiful Napa Valley where fine wine and fine ground beef is grown.

Fun Fact: If you know anything about grapevines, you know they thrive on drama. Carneros (Napa Valley) is the perfect stage with foggy mornings and windy afternoons that force the berries to grow small and thick-skinned just to survive. But that struggle is exactly why the fruit is so spectacular; it’s proof that a little hard work goes a long way in the glass. Who else is a fan of the cool-climate style of Carneros? Or do you prefer northern Napa?

I know, I know… I rarely post Napa. But let’s be real, the wines are incredible. I went down a major rabbit hole with BELTED VINES after asking for some fun facts. Six generations of ranching and winemaking (this includes a 2026 arrival!) is the kind of legacy I can’t ignore. If you love the story behind the wine as much as I do, go read up on them. It’s a fascinating ride.

I’ll be diving into these bottles and sharing the highlights over the next few weeks. I couldn’t wait and already cracked the Albariño. Stay tuned, because the review for that one is dropping very soon!
