McPherson was named after our former NVUSD Superintendent, Dr. Harry McPherson. McPherson uses school-wide positive behavior strategies to maintain a safe and respectful environment where children achieve learning. The campus is a community-orientated facility – used after hours for an after school program that serves 180 students in an integrated art program facilitated by the Boys and Girls club. At McPherson all students will master grade level standards in a learning environment that supports inquiry and collaboration for teachers and students as they make meaning of knowledge. Teachers will be active members in Professional Learning Communities that focus on learning. All students will have the skills and motivation to have the most opportunities afforded to them. In addition to Math and Language Arts students at McPherson offers a wide range of instructional enrichment opportunities such as Science, Arts, Technology and PE Specials Classes. We encourage our parents to volunteer in our school and welcome parent input on school-wide decisions through our parent organizations. McPherson offers has a Family Resource Center located on site that provides family resources, parent classes through Napa Valley Parent University, and coordinates parent volunteering. Our parents can also participate in leadership roles through our School Site Council, ELAC/DLAC representative, Title I Representative, Superintendents Advisory Representative and Parent Teacher Organization.
