Congratulation to the three staff members who received an Illinois Education Association SCORE Grant: Cowlishaw Elementary Project Arrow gifted research teacher Chris Cook, Longwood Elementary student services coordinator Tiauna King, and Scullen Middle School orchestra teacher Daryl Silberman. At Cowlishaw, the grant will be used to expand access to theater, fine arts, and creative learning by providing equipment and resources to support student productions and projects. At Longwood, the grant will fund a “One School, One Book” program that will give every student and family access to a shared book that will help build a strong school-wide reading community and foster a love of reading. At Scullen, the grant will support “Soundwave Saraswati” that will help students explore the unique melodic and rhythmic structures of Carnatic (South Indian) classical music, Hindustani (North Indian) music, and Islamic music.
