We’re excited to welcome Aly Boomgarden as our new Director of Nutrition Services!🍎👏

Aly brings a passion for nutrition, wellness, and helping people access the healthy food they need to thrive. In her new role, she’ll help lead our Nutrition Services and strengthen the ways we provide healthy food to the individuals and families we serve.

At Loaves & Fishes, we believe access to healthy food is about more than filling a grocery cart; it’s about nourishing people today while helping create a healthier, more stable future. When families have access to the nutrition they need, they have a stronger foundation to focus on their health, employment, finances, and other steps toward self-sufficiency.

Aly’s work will be an important part of our commitment to looking beyond food and strengthening pathways to self-sufficiency.

When severe weather impacts our neighbors, working together matters.💚

Following Tuesday’s storms, families across Will County were navigating power outages, property damage, and unexpected challenges. At Loaves & Fishes Community Services, we’re proud to be part of the community response, helping ensure access to nutritious food and basic needs while families focus on recovery.

Working together with the Will County Emergency Management Agency, we helped host a drive-up food distribution at Faith Movers Church in University Park and Fairmount School.

We’re grateful to the Will County Emergency Management Agency and the many organizations working together to connect residents with food, shelter, cleanup assistance, disaster recovery, and other essential resources.

This is about more than food. It’s about collaboration, connection, and showing up when our neighbors need us most.

Another Milestone for Nourish Together

We’re excited to share that the $500,000 challenge match has been met! The successful completion of this challenge marks another important milestone for the Nourish Together Campaign and reflects the incredible generosity helping move us toward our $15 million goal.

We are deeply grateful to the Ronald L. McDaniel Foundation for making this match opportunity possible, and to everyone who has stepped forward so far to support the Nourish Together Campaign.

From lemonade stands to giving back. 🍋❤️

For years, we’ve had the joy of watching the Schuiling family (and friends) turn a simple lemonade stand into something so much bigger: a tradition of giving back.

Each year, the kids roll up their sleeves, make lemonade, and raise funds for Loaves & Fishes. Then, they come to deliver their earnings, and their parents match every dollar their kids worked so hard to raise.

This year, we couldn’t help but pause and look at how much they’ve grown. From the 2024 photo to 2026. But what’s even more special is how their hearts have grown right alongside them. 💚

When the Schuiling family came to deliver this year’s lemonade stand earnings, they didn’t just drop off a donation and leave. They stayed to help in our warehouse, collecting empty boxes and bringing them to our box compressor for recycling.

They’re learning firsthand that giving back isn’t just about writing a check or raising money. It’s about showing up. Lending a hand. Taking care of the place you live. And finding ways to help wherever you can.

Schuiling family, thank you for making giving back a family tradition, for letting us watch your family grow along the way, and for teaching your children about the joy of giving.

We can’t wait to see what next year brings. 🍋💛
