🌀 Emergency Readiness Summit 2026 🌀

Baker Senior Center Naples was honored to participate as a community partner in this year’s Emergency Readiness Summit, hosted by the Collier County Sheriff’s Office at The Naples Grande Beach Resort. With more than 400 attendees, the event brought together community members, organizations, and experts focused on an important mission: helping our community stay informed, prepared, and resilient.

The summit featured a keynote presentation by Lewis Merletti, former Director of the U.S. Secret Service, along with educational sessions covering how to prepare and respond before, during, and after a disaster. More than 20 organizations were also on hand to share valuable resources and information available throughout Collier County.

A big thank you to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office for bringing our community together and to everyone who helped make this important event a success!

☕🎨 Family Social at Memory Café! 🎨☕

Caregivers and individuals living with dementia came together at Baker Senior Center Naples for our Family Social, where they experienced creativity, laughter, and joy while creating this month’s project - Coffee bean art! Participants decorated their paintings with coffee beans, adding texture, creativity, and fun to their masterpieces. Moments like these remind us how important it is to create welcoming spaces where families can connect, create, and simply enjoy being together.

✍️ What Does Your Handwriting Say About You?

Don Polly, a member of Baker Senior Center Naples, gave an informative and engaging presentation on Graphoanalysis—a method of handwriting analysis used to explore character and personality traits by examining details such as slant, size, spacing, and stroke movements. Attendees discovered how the way they write can offer fascinating insights into their feelings and personalities. Everyone who attended agreed that Don had literally and figuratively dotted all the “I”s and crossed all the “T”s!

Baker Senior Center Naples Celebrates National Senior Citizens Day! 🎂 🎉

In 1988, President Ronald Reagan signed a proclamation establishing August 21 as a day to honor the contributions of older adults. 38 years later, we’re proud to continue that tradition. Members of Baker Senior Center Naples gathered to celebrate with cake and what matters most: connection. Here’s to the enduring contributions of older adults in our community. Happy National Senior Citizens Day!

🌟 Community Living Expo at Baker Senior Center Naples! 🌟

Baker Senior Center Naples brought together 9 local senior living communities for the ‘Community Living Expo’, an informative and engaging event where attendees had the opportunity to connect with local communities and learn about a variety of senior living options, including Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Memory Care. A special thank you to all the participating communities for sharing their expertise and resources!

✈️ Travel Tips & Tricks at Baker Senior Center Naples! ✈️

Andrea White and Allana Stephens with Preferred Travel & Company recently joined us to share valuable “Travel Tips & Tricks” with members of Baker Senior Center Naples. Attendees learned about current international travel requirements, helpful planning strategies, and must-have travel essentials. A big Thank-You to Andrea and Allana for sharing their expertise and helping educate and inspire our members to enjoy their travels safely, confidently, and with fewer bumps in the road!

🎲BUNCO NIGHT at Baker Senior Center Naples! 🎲

For the first time ever, Baker Senior Center Naples hosted BUNCO NIGHT — a fast-paced, highly social dice game filled with fun, laughter, and friendly competition! Our members had the opportunity to learn something new and enjoy meaningful social connections along the way. A big “Thank You” to everyone who joined us and helped make our first Bunco Night a success! We’re already looking forward to rolling the dice again!

🌟 Volunteer Spotlight – Alan Horowitz! 🌟

Today we're proud to recognize Alan Horowitz, who has been a dedicated volunteer at Baker Senior Center Naples for over 11 years and has contributed 4,000 volunteer hours! Alan enjoys greeting clients and assists staff in our Dementia Respite Program, a program that he says is especially close to his heart: "This group of people have become my extended family. If I can put a smile on someone’s face, then I feel that I have done my job."

In addition to helping with the Dementia Respite Program, Alan also volunteers at our weekly luncheons, serving food to members and even offering the occasional back rub! Alan was honored as BSCN's Volunteer of the Year in 2021, and we are grateful for all the smiles that he continues to put on our members' and clients' faces! 😊

We thank the Women's Foundation of Collier County for their support and to everyone involved in making a lasting difference in the lives of these women!

27 senior women housed. 25 still permanently housed today.

That's what a $70,000 WFCC grant to Baker Senior Center Naples made possible — funding a full-time case manager who doesn't just help women find housing, but stays with them: monthly calls, face-to-face visits every 90 days, hurricane kits, food and gift cards, and mental health referrals when needed.

Working in tandem with the Collier Senior Center - Golden Gate , Collier Resource Center , and the SWFL Regional Coalition to End Homelessness, this is what an ecosystem of care looks like.

Housing isn't the finish line. It's the starting line.
