As always call to confirm scheduled times as they could vary. Remember there are a number of places to go also. Go do your grocery shopping at any of the various grocery stores in our county. Go visit family if you don't have A/C. Please bring your pets in if they are outside, be sure to check on your neighbors, especially the elderly or those with health conditions. If you have to be outside please pay attention to your bodies and recognize the symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke and take plenty of breaks to cool off! Last, but not least hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!

* WHAT...Heat index values 100 to 104 expected. Overnight heat indices in the middle 70s.

* WHERE...Portions of northern Indiana and northwest Ohio.

* WHEN...From 2 PM EDT /1 PM CDT/ Tuesday to 8 PM EDT /7 PM CDT/ Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A period of dangerous heat and humidity is in store through at least Wednesday evening, with minimal relief Tuesday night. Chances for showers and thunderstorms should remain north of the advisory area.

ON THIS DATE: 10 Years ago, the only “Tornado Emergency” in northwest Ohio history was issued. A confirmed and destructive tornado was on the ground in Defiance county. The tornado was near Okolona and headed directly for Napoleon. Fortunately, the tornado lifted just west of Napoleon, narrowly avoiding a catastrophic disaster from a significant tornado.

Ultimately, this supercell produced multiple EF-3/EF-2 tornadoes in Indiana and northwest Ohio. It was part of an historic outbreak of 22 tornadoes in Indiana and Ohio on August 24, 2016. 🌪️🌪️

A few rounds of thunderstorms are expected through Saturday evening. Showers and storms are expected to form in Illinois track into the region Saturday morning. Locally heavy rainfall, and isolated wind gusts to 60 mph are possible. Additional scattered storms are possible Saturday afternoon and evening with a risk of damaging winds, heavy rain, and isolated tornadoes. However, confidence remains lower with this second round of storms.

The highest rainfall totals this weekend are likely to be in the same locations that have been hit so hard over the past week... areas south and west of Toledo. Generally, 1/2" to 1" of rain is likely from Saturday into Sunday, but localized higher totals are possible where heavier storms track overhead. 2"+ are possible across Indiana, as well as portions of central and southern Ohio.
