Across the state, cropland values appear to be flattening this year, but pastureland values are still climbing. The south central region, surrounding Logan County, appears to be following the trend - although pastureland values grew at a slower rate (2.5%) than its northern and southeastern neighbors.

North Dakota Department of Trust Land's annual survey has been released, so you can dig into the numbers (including average reported* rental rates) here: www.land.nd.gov/resources/north-dakota-county-rents-prices-annual-survey

*Please note the number of respondents, and keep those numbers in mind while considering the data.

The practice of solar grazing, or using sheep to maintain vegetation on solar farms, has emerged as a premier win-win for agriculture and renewable energy.

Our neighbors next door at the University of Minnesota Extension are hosting an informative webinar titled "Ewes and Utilities: Ins and Outs of Sheep Solar Grazing," highlighting infrastructure essentials, site evaluation, animal health, and a Q&A session to explore the logistics, benefits, and future.

We had a wonderful day on Saturday getting ready for fair season by reviewing project guidelines, building lemon batteries, planting seeds, and making homemade ice cream.

Thank you to all the 4-H families who participated, to Main Street Hardware for donating the potting soil, and to the Golden Age Hall for letting us use their space!
