We would like to thank BEK and MDU for donating money to Napoleon Rural Fire Protection District for purchasing two AEDs for our fire trucks. We need to keep our volunteer firefighters safe and provide equipment for them in case one goes down. Cardiac arrest while fighting fires is a potential occurrence and by having AEDs in the fire trucks will ensure the best possible outcome for our volunteer firefighters if this would ever happen. Thank you BEK and MDU for your generous donations!! We truly appreciate it!!

We would like to thank Farmers Union Insurance for donating money for equipment. With their donation money, we were able to purchase two new Combi-Carrier stretchers (one in each ambulance) to replace our scoop stretchers. These are wonderful stretchers to help move patients. We are very thankful to Farmers Union Insurance for their donation!!

If anyone is interested in one of these in our service area, please comment or send a private message. These are great to keep all your medical/emergency information in one place. Complete it and put on your fridge so we know where it is at if we ever have to go to your residence. Also, make sure to look at it periodically and update it if necessary. We also have extra inserts if yours is outdated and scribbled up.

Is there any interest in a babysitting class again this summer? Trying to get a head count to see if we should do another one this year or skip a year and do it next year since we had a pretty big group last year. Need to be at least 11 years old to attend.

List of AED locations in the community. Good to be familiar where they are at if you need one.

Yes you can call 911 and we will be there, but remember it takes several minutes for us to get to the hall and then to the scene.

Every minute that goes by when someone's heart stops and no one starts CPR that person loses 10% chance of survival. So if no one does CPR on someone and waits for us to get there and we arrive 10 minutes after that person's heart has stopped, that person has a 0% chance of survival.

If you are not comfortable doing breaths, at least get on the chest and start compressions.

So please learn CPR and how to use an AED. Some people have asked what an AED is. It stands for Automated External Defibrillator. Simply, it is a machine that can shock a person's heart in hopes it starts working normally again. The AED has voice prompts that talk you through what to do, but it is very good to be familiar with how to use it.
