Assumption Council on Aging/Public Transportation The Assumption Council on Aging is a social services agency serving the citizens of Assumption Parish

The Council has a staff of approximately 40-45 employees who provide a variety of services to the residents of Assumption Parish who are 60 years of age and older. The operations of this agency are funded through federal, state, and local programs. Assumption Council on Aging does not discriminate against race, color, religion, national origin, s*x, age, disability, or any other status protected b

y law or regulation. Our goal is to provide services to enhance the quality of life for low-income minorities, elderly and the disabled. The services include Outreach, Information & Assistance, Quarterly Newsletter, Transportation, Nutrition, Caregiver Support, Wellness, Material Aid, Exercise, Recreation, Homemaker, Legal Assistance, and Assessment Screening.

It's been a busy time here at ACOA. But now that everything has calmed down, we would like to show off our Seniors that participated in the Bayou-River District Senior Games throughout the month of April. A very big Thank you goes out to Assumption Parish Community Center for allowing us use of their banquet hall.

On Friday April 17, we had our annual crawfish boil for our seniors! A great time was had by all. We would like to thank Cancienne's Cajun Catering for boiling the delicious crawfish for us! Our seniors were also able to get in some Senior Game practice with Co****le and Horseshoes.
