🚨 Vehicle Theft Alert

The Narberth Police Department has seen an increase in vehicle thefts involving newer technology-based methods, particularly targeting vehicles equipped with push-button start or keyless entry systems.

Two common methods being used include:

🔹 Key Fob Cloning / Relay Attacks
Thieves use electronic devices to capture or mimic signals from vehicle key fobs. In some cases, they can relay the signal from a key left inside a nearby home, allowing them to unlock and start the vehicle without the original key.

🔹 OBD Port Reprogramming
After entering a vehicle, thieves may connect a device to the vehicle’s On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) port beneath the dashboard to program a new key fob and steal the vehicle within minutes.

Residents are encouraged to take the following precautions:

• Use a visible steering wheel lock
• Consider installing an OBD port lock
• Park in a garage or well-lit area whenever possible
• Do not leave key fobs near front doors or windows
• Store key fobs in a Faraday pouch/container to block electronic signals
• Always confirm your vehicle is locked before leaving it
• Consider using GPS tracking devices

Visible anti-theft devices often cause thieves to move on to easier targets.

If you observe suspicious activity involving parked vehicles, individuals checking door handles, or persons using electronic devices near vehicles, contact the Narberth Police Department immediately.

The snow emergency has been lifted along with the snow emergency parking restrictions. All regular parking restrictions are back in effect.

Many thanks to Public Works for their hard work in keeping our roads safe!

Property owners are reminded that it is their responsibility to ensure that their public sidewalk areas are cleared of snow/ice within 12 hours of the last snowfall, including curb ramps at intersections. This helps to ensure that these areas are safe for pedestrians. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated!

For any weather-related emergency, please dial 9-1-1.

The Borough has declared a Snow Emergency beginning at 3:00 pm on Sunday, February 22, 2026, until further notice. This will help to ensure our crews are able to do the necessary work both prior to and during the upcoming weather event. Crews will be out when the snow begins and will continue to monitor the storm and plow/salt accordingly.

For citizens, a snow emergency means that all vehicles parked on those streets where signage indicates no parking during a snow alert are required, by law, to be moved elsewhere in order to allow snow plowing of the road surface. Snow emergency signage dictates which side of the street residents may not park on when an emergency is declared. Residents may park in their driveways (if available), alternate sides of their street, or on another street not marked "No Parking." During a snow emergency, residents may park on 2-hour restricted streets without a permit, unless the street is designated as a snow emergency route. These parking restrictions are put into place for the purpose of public safety as well as the efficiency of snow clearing on Borough streets; vehicles in violation are subject to ticketing and/or towing.

Property owners are reminded that it is their responsibility to ensure that their public sidewalk areas are cleared of snow and ice within 12 hours of the last snowfall, including curb ramps at intersections. This helps ensure these areas remain safe and accessible for pedestrians. Residents are also reminded to be mindful of where shoveled snow is placed. Please do not push or deposit snow back into the roadway, as this creates hazardous conditions for vehicles and can impede plowing operations. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

The Borough office will be closed on Monday, February 23rd for the safety of our staff and residents. The Police Department will remain open. Documents can be dropped off in the secure lockboxes located outside the entrance on Haverford Ave.

If you have any questions, please email [email protected] and we will respond as soon as we are able.

If you are in need of emergency services, please dial 9-1-1.

If you’ve been following the forecast, you know as much as we do. Depending on which weather model you believe, we’re either getting buried in snow… or enjoying perfectly normal Sunday.

That said, if the snow does decide to visit us, please be prepared:

❄ Move vehicles from all posted snow routes.

❄ Clear sidewalks adjacent to your property in a timely manner.

❄ Give our plow operators and emergency vehicles plenty of room to work.

We greatly appreciate all the support from our residents during the last storm. Your help enabled all of us to make sure the roadways were passable and safe. We may need your help again! We’ll continue to monitor the forecast and provide updates as needed. In the meantime, it might be a good idea to bring back your shovel, just in case the “big storm” actually shows up.

At approximately 12:10 PM today, Narberth Police responded to several calls regarding a report of an armed individual at the corner of Montgomery Avenue and Haverford Avenue, whom the callers thought was an ICE agent.

Officers located the individual and confirmed he is a licensed, armed security guard employed by a local school. He was at the intersection waiting for a SEPTA bus. There was no ICE activity associated with this incident, and there is no concern for public safety.

We also became aware of individuals shouting profanities at this person while he waited for a bus. We ask everyone to remain respectful and mindful in our daily interactions.

Attention Residents:

With a heavy snowfall forecast, we want to share a few important reminders.

Most importantly, stay safe. Temperatures will be low, and conditions may be hazardous, so please plan ahead, limit unnecessary travel, and use caution on sidewalks and roadways.

Snow Emergency Routes – No Parking
If your vehicle is parked on a Snow Emergency Route, it must be moved within one hour of the start of snowfall. This is to ensure that the roadways are free of obstructions to allow Public Works to clear the full width of the roadway. Because this storm is expected to occur overnight, please move your vehicle before going to bed. Public Works will be plowing overnight to keep roadways clear and passable. Overnight parking is permitted at the public parking lots at Borough Hall and at Sabine Park during a declared snow emergency. Overnight parking is not permitted after the snow emergency is lifted.

Sidewalk Snow Removal
After snowfall ends, residents and businesses must clear sidewalks to a minimum width of 36 inches within 12 hours. This is essential for pedestrian safety and accessibility.

Please also take a moment to check on neighbors who may need assistance during winter weather. If you need Police, Fire, or EMS, call 911. We are here to help.
