🐾 Pawsuit and Capture: Holly’s Great Escape Comes to an End

All available resources from the Town of Narragansett were deployed to help capture Holly, an adventurous canine who proved to be a master of evasion. Despite multiple attempts, Holly repeatedly outmaneuvered rescuers, leading officers, animal control, and concerned residents on a more than 40-minute pursuit that spanned roads, sidewalks, beaches, and marshland. The chase finally came to a successful conclusion around 11:30 a.m. on June 2, 2026.

On February 17th I got a call from some wonderful concerned residents about an injured seagull. The house was on the water and it was a blustery winter day so I just figured he’d been knocked around a bit by the wind and needed the loving hands of the wildlife vets. Later that week I had a sick/injured duck. Didn’t think anything of it. A week passed and our local population began really suffering from Avian Influenza and shortly after I picked up this guy it seemed like all of my calls for service were for a sick or deceased bird. It was a tough couple of weeks after. By this time I had found out (while dropping off another sick bird) that this guy had AI along with a fracture BUT, he was still alive. Well, yesterday I got a call from The Wildlife Rehabilitators Association of Rhode Island that this guy was ready to be released and today I was delighted to be able to send him home. Even better, the people who called on him were home so I got to have them join me! A much needed win. And thank goodness we have that amazing wildlife clinic in our back yard. ❤️(Sorry guys, the video is 8+ minutes long, he was content to hang with us a bit before flying off to join his friends!)
