Drive-Thru Trunk or Treat!!! Nash Police Department is excited to be a part of this event 🎃 A great way to be safe and have fun with the kiddos 🎃

Are you looking for a safe alternative to letting your kids go door-to-door on Saturday? If so, we have just the solution that you're looking for. 👍

We are again partnering with the Parks Department for Trunk or Treat in Spring Lake Park on Halloween afternoon. After the incredible response that we had last year, we knew that we had to figure out a way to do it for the kids again - and still be safe for everyone.

The solution that we came up with? A drive thru event. All traffic will enter the park from Mall Drive, drive around the block where the decorated vehicles will be park to collect your treats, and then exit back out that same way to Mall Drive.

To be sure that we can all social distance as we should be doing, we ask that everyone stay in your car as you go through the event. We will deliver the treats to you at your vehicle as you stop at each location. Unfortunately, we will not be able to accommodate anyone who simply walks up.

Would your club, church, or business like to be a part of this with us too? We currently have 22 groups signed up but have plenty of room for more. Contact the Parks Department at 903-798-3978 or send us a message here for more information if you're interested. :)

Sometimes it's okay to brag when you have the best of the best! Jennifer Studdard is one of our most treasured employees. She is the first one to jump in and lend a hand, bring you a small surprise to brighten your day or assist you in finding the tools needed to do the job you're facing. She is also one vital piece of the work puzzle around here and not one of us would want to do our jobs without her. Thanks for all you do, Jennifer!! Enjoy your treat!!

Big congrats to Jennifer Studdard, Director of Finance, with the City of Nash Texas! Jennifer was the lucky winner of our “Best Boss’s Day” contest. She was entered into the drawing by her wonderful employees. Jennifer will get to enjoy a FREE cryotherapy session on us as well as a $50 gift card from Texas Roadhouse. Thank you for your leadership Jennifer!

As we all continue to navigate and adapt to change, there is one thing that remains the same.... We love and care for our community!! It is with the safety and welfare of our citizens in mind that we have made the determination to cancel Nash'ional Night Out this year. It was NOT an easy choice but we want to do our part in encouraging everyone to stay safe and healthy. We look forward to next year with the hope that we can gather again!!

Nash Texas Police Department

It seems like it is that unfortunate time of year again where we have to remind our fine citizens to lock their car doors. 😫
There has been a series of vehicle burglaries between our communities here in Bowie County, and the common denominator is that our victims have left their car doors unlocked.
Please make sure you lock your car doors every night, and take valuables inside.

Confused regarding Governor Abbott's Executive Order and plan to begin the process to reopen Texas? Below is a link that provides some guidelines for individuals, businesses and organizations that will hopefully address any questions you may have regarding the next few weeks.

https://dshs.texas.gov/coronavirus/opentexas.aspx

Even though the Shelter in Place order will be lifted as of April 30, 2020, please remember to keep in mind the guidelines that the CDC has put in place to keep us all healthy! Things such as remaining diligent in social distancing as you begin to venture out in public as well as continuing to thoroughly wash your hands, cover a sneeze and stay home if not feeling well will hopefully go a long way in the effort to keep the numbers down!

For now, Nash City Hall will continue operating in the same manner. We will continue to serve our community and residents over the phone, through appointments and by way of social media. We hope that mid-May will bring us the opportunity to join the ranks of offices beginning the process in reopening to the public. That decision will be made after the Governor announces his next phase in reopening Texas.

The streets of Nash were filled with love as families gathered in their yards, at the curb and along the street to catch a glimpse of their favorite Nash teachers and school faculty! Thank you, Ms. Luna! Your request for a Teacher’s Parade was welcomed by city officials, residents, our community, young and old alike. There were smiles, bashful waves, shrieks of joy and eyes filled with awe as the TISD Nash Elementary staff and city officials drove by waving and shouting from decorated vehicles as well as Police cars and Fire trucks with lights and sirens. You could feel the sense of community in the air and that’s one of the things that makes Nash so great! The City would like to personally thank Danny Proctor and Appledawg Tees for donating vehicles for the parade!

The City of Nash is beaming with pride as we see our school professionals, our city professionals and our residents come together in a spirit of community!

Shoutout to all of our Nash Elementary School kids and parents!!!

Have you been missing your teachers? They sure have been missing all of you! Starting at 6pm on Wednesday, April 15th, we will be assisting TISD with a social distancing parade! If you’re looking for a fun and creative project to do with your children over the next few days, consider making posters or writing sidewalk chalk messages in your driveways to say hello to our Nash Elementary School Faculty and Staff, and our Nash City Officials!

If your home is not along the parade route, consider driving to one of the areas listed in the flyer. There is also a big parking lot next to The First Baptist Church of Nash located at South Pecan and Highway 82 that we will also drive by as we approach the Pecan Valley Circle neighborhood.

For safety reasons, and also to practice good social distancing, we ask that parents please keep their children in their front yards and to not come out onto the street or approach the vehicles.

Make sure you and your kiddos are listening for Police and Fire sirens, and for your teachers honking their horns!

(Please zoom in on this flyer if you are viewing from a phone. Parents, please check your e-mail for messages from TISD, and give the TISD Nash Elementary page a follow!)

WE CANNOT WAIT TO SEE EVERYONE! 😊

In hopes to brighten a special day for our young Nash residents....

The Nash Police Department has seen on various social media platforms that some local agencies are doing their part to lift the spirits of children in their communities who are stuck at home on their birthday. We think this is an AMAZING idea, and would like to do our part! We’re happy to drive by your house and hit our lights and sirens! We know that it’s hard for kids to understand social distancing, and we welcome any ideas to make this dark time a bit brighter.

Please send us a message, or call us at 903-838-0822 and let us know what we can do to help.

Thank you Paris, Texas Police Department for putting this idea out there!

We are constantly monitoring the situation and are aligning with what the Bowie County Judge and the State Governor declare. We have been notified that there is an issue with the ability to enlarge this document to a legible size. This declaration essentially states the same things that have been echoed from our government leaders, i.e. refraining from gathering in numbers larger than 50, voluntary curfew, etc. This is simply a step in a process that enables us to request available funds from the government at a later date, IF NEEDED. Per phone request, we will gladly provide an emailed copy of this declaration so you can read it in its entirety.

The City of Nash gets it water from Texarkana so we will follow their instructions for a boil order until further notice. This action is standard protocol that follows a main water line break so there is no need for alarm. Stay tuned for updates...

BOIL ORDER IN EFFECT

The City has issued a boil order for any water used for drinking or cooking until further notice. There is no need to worry about water used for other purposes, such as bathing.

Once the water pressure returns to normal later today, we will begin testing to ensure that the water quality remains at the normal high levels.

We anticipate that the boil order will remain in effect for at least 24 hours.

Outstanding tickets? Warrants? Avoiding the law? You ain't got time for that.... we ain't got time for that... SOOOO how about we resolve your case???? Amnesty is still going on.... Nash Municipal Court is offering to work with those who have a warrant and want to resolve their unpaid tickets. You might qualify for lowered fees, or even a payment plan (with a down payment, of course) which will at least keep you out of jail as long as you're making your payments. Call us or come by today!!

01/31/2020

Do you owe money on an outstanding traffic violation in Nash, TX? Are you tired of wondering if there is a warrant out for your arrest or if today is the day you go to jail? We just might be able to help you out….

Did you know that the State of Texas has LOTS of Municipal Courts that offer something called an Amnesty program?? They do! Let me tell you how that works here in Nash…..

If there is a warrant for your arrest, INSTEAD of suffering the inconvenience and embarassment of being arrested…. We give you the opportunity to come in and handle your business WITHOUT BEING AFRAID OF GOING TO JAIL. Your options are 1) pay your ticket in full…in some cases, defendants who pay in full are eligible for a reduction in the amount due… or 2) request and sign a payment plan which will include a down payment and proof of residency.
Start this new year out without worry. Come in and talk to one of our court clerks (Nash City Hall – 119 Elm St) OR call the office at 903-808-0822 if you have questions.

01/24/2020

Just as our neighbors in Texarkana are warning their residents, we want to make our citizens aware that there have been some issues with coyotes here in Nash, as well.

Please remember to use caution ANY TIME you encounter a wild animal, as their behavior can be very unpredictable. Even though, Coyotes somewhat resemble a dog and for that reason could entice you to get close, they are definitely NOT pets and should NOT be approached. Coyotes in urban areas are often in search of an easy food source so please be mindful of your pets, pet food kept outdoors, any easily accessible trash, etc.

Educating ourselves about issues that may arise in our cities as well as endeavoring to keep our citizens updated on what's happening in our area are some of our top priorities.

-Due to the amount of reports received regarding coyotes, the Texarkana, Texas Animal Services Department would like to outline guidelines for how to handle coyote encounters:

• Do NOT feed them.
• Put all trash in trash containers with lids.
• Do not let pets out unattended or at large.
• Scare them off by yelling or throwing rocks or sticks near them.

Coyotes are not domestic animals. However, they can be more domestic when people feed them. Currently, we are in breeding season for coyotes and they can become more aggressive during the reproductive season. Expect to see more coyotes born in the spring. Usually, coyotes aren’t aggressive unless threatened or sick, but they are a wild animal and should not be kept as pets.

The USDA – APHIS Mike Bodenchuk explained “There are a number of ways to deal with urban coyotes. Seeing them in the daytime isn’t unusual, but there may be someone feeding them and certainly pets outside may be at risk.”

You can identify coyotes by checking during a full moon. German Shepherds and Husky breeds resemble coyotes, but do not howl at the moon. Please note, it is illegal to shoot coyotes within the city limits, and all reports should be made to the Texarkana, Texas Animal Services Department.

For more information, contact the Animal Services Department at 903-798-3535

Well, it’s that time of year again. Some taxpayers have gotten a form that looks pretty official, but is a scam. It wants you to send in $50 and they will get you a “homestead” exemption. Problem is you can come by the office and in about 5-10 minutes apply FREE. If you have already had a homestead, you still have one, unless you have moved to another home. So help others out and share this post.
