Just some knowledgeable and fun-loving Ohio State Parks naturalists from Dillon, Muskingum River Parkway State Park, and Jesse Owens State Park here at the Muskingum Valley Park District Riverfest on this beautiful Saturday! Not to mention a whole bunch of other vendors and activities.
It’s a free family fest riverside (of course!) in downtown Zanesville - come on out!

The Nature Center will also be open today from 12-5pm for curious minds to come explore! We’ll have a variety of self-guided activity sheets to grab and go with as well!

We had a great group out for our most recent Park After Dark, during which we took to the forested trails under the Sturgeon Moon! Naturally, we discussed sturgeon (and slugs, fungi, coyotes, and more) while enjoying the shadowy scenery and lunar appearances!

Thanks to all who were there! We look forward to (sorta) seeing everybody next time!

Hey, y’all! Been quite some time since our last Park After Dark but we’re back at it tonight! Bring water, sturdy footwear, and weather-appropriate attire. You can bring artificial lights but these will be used at the naturalist’s discretion.

We’ll be hitting the trails under the full moon at 8:30pm. Meet at the Marina parking lot. Hike will be just a tad over 1 mile across moderately strenuous, natural terrain (ie, it’s not paved, there is elevation change, and we’re out in nature). 🌝
