🩵💧It's AWWA Drinking Water Week!💧🩵

Most of the work that keeps drinking water safe happens quietly in the background. Water is routinely treated, tested, and monitored to meet strict safety standards. Equipment is checked, systems are maintained, and data is scrutinized to keep our water pure and drinkable. Here at Pennichuck, our water professionals are committed to this work 24/7 to ensure the water from your tap is safe and reliable!

We’re proud to partner with Xploration to help bring watershed education to local students and classrooms each year and give them the opportunity to learn about the importance of watersheds, landforms, and how we all play a role in protecting our drinking water sources. 💧🌎

Programs like this help inspire the next generation of environmental stewards while building awareness about the everyday actions that protect our natural resources and community water supply.

We also love seeing students’ creativity shine through the annual Watershed Poster Contest that accompanies these presentations each year, and we’ll be announcing this year’s winners soon. Stay tuned! 🎨🏆

Thank you to Xploration and to all of the educators, students, and schools who made this year such a success.

What a great year of Xploration 5th Grade Watersheds & Landforms workshops courtesy of Pennichuck Corporation!

💦🌷Spring Cleaning for Your Pipes🌷💦

Our annual spring flushing program begins this month, helping us to maintain water quality by clearing out sediment and ensuring fresh, clean water flows to your tap. Daytime flushing will occur between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Nighttime flushing, which occurs in Nashua and some parts of Amherst, will take place between the hours of 10:30 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Residents in areas scheduled for daytime flushing will receive a notification postcard a week prior to the start of flushing; they will also receive a call, text, or email notification two business days before flushing begins if their contact information is up-to-date and they have opted-in (https://pennichuck.com/general-information-for-our-water-customers/customer-contact-information/). For night flushing, no postcards are sent, but customers will receive a call, text, or email on the Thursday before flushing begins to their opted-in contact information. Please run cold water after your scheduled flushing day and times for 5-10 minutes to clear colored water!

For dates and more information, please visit our Flushing Program page at https://pennichuck.com/general-information-for-our-water-customers/flushing-program/ or My Water System at https://pennichuck.com/my-water-system/.

This week is National Groundwater Awareness Week. Did you know that about 75% of New Hampshire residents rely primarily on groundwater for their drinking water? This could be from a private well, public water drawn from an aquifer, or from a community well. Here are some ways we can work together to keep our groundwater clean:

💧Cut down on chemical use in the home and for lawncare.
💧Dispose of potentially toxic materials responsibly.
💧Clean up pet waste.
💧Maintain septic systems and underground oil tanks.
💧Limit salt use on sidewalks and driveways.

Together, we can protect and conserve our groundwater! 🌎
