, the issued a new alert to seniors about scammers who will try to trick them out of their hard earned money by sending couriers to come pick up the cash. The scammers claim to offer a business opportunity or a romantic relationship - eventually asking their new "partner" to invest in cryptocurrency. The "investing" may begin with wire transfers, but scammers will also try to convince their victims to get cash or gold bars to be retrieved by couriers. Once the courier is gone - so too is the victim's money.

Nashville and our partners have captured fugitive David George Treece in west Tennessee today. Treece is wanted for aggravated robbery at Truist Bank in Lebanon, attempted aggravated robbery at Ascend Federal Credit Union in Murfreesboro, and is also being charged by the Tennessee Highway Patrol with felony evading.

Following an investigation by Nashville, FBI - Houston, and the Spring Hill Police Department, a Hohenwald, Tennessee, man was sentenced to 108 months in federal prison, followed by 10 years of supervised release, for coercing and enticing a 16-year-old girl to travel with him from Tennessee to Kentucky and then to Texas so that he could continue an illegal sexual relationship with her.

, as a result of an Memphis Resident Agency case, a federal grand jury has returned a six-count indictment in a significant public corruption case against Shelby County General Sessions Court Clerk Tamara Sawyer. As alleged in the indictment, Sawyer embezzled, stole, and knowingly converted $44,607.35 in public funds to her own use. She carried out the scheme by using procurement cards issued to other county employees, a county travel card, and by obtaining travel advances.

, following an investigation by the Memphis Resident Agency, IRS - Criminal Investigation, and United States Secret Service, a federal grand jury in the Western District of Tennessee returned an 11-count indictment charging a middle Tennessee man with multiple crimes related to his running of a cryptocurrency Ponzi scheme while a resident of Shelby County.

As alleged in the indictment, Misam M. Abidi, 47, of Nolensville, Tennessee, executed a scheme to defraud millions of dollars from investors across the country through his cryptocurrency investment firm, Star Credit Holdings, between 2020 and 2024. Abidi made a variety of misrepresentations to his investors in order to convince them to invest in Star Credit Holdings. These misrepresentations included: (1) guaranteed high rates of return, (2) that Abidi had a significant reserve fund to make his investors whole if necessary, and (3) that Abidi had substantially more capital under his management than he actually did.
