For eight years, the DCSO’s Southeast Campus has been home to the Last Minute Toy Store. Regretfully, with construction now beginning on that campus, we can no longer accommodate LMTS needs. Our employees have enjoyed being part of such an inspiring effort and proudly served tens of thousands of Nashville children. The partnership and love of service we experienced with LMTS leaders, specifically Dale and Kelly Robble, is appreciated and their outreach ministry has touched many lives over the past 32 years.

🍎First Period: Meet the Sheriff!
Our newest Citizens’ Academy class was officially back in session last Tuesday night! Sheriff Daron Hall Nashville Sheriff welcomed the class before our chiefs shared more about their roles. Then it was time for a little field trip around headquarters, followed by an exercise on our Pretrial Program.

Congratulations to our Employee of the Month for June, Brandi Moore!

After a 72-year-old man was booked into the Downtown Detention Center on a failure-to-appear charge, Ms. Moore recognized there may have been a misunderstanding about his previous court appearance. Rather than leaving it for someone else, she took the initiative before the end of her shift to contact the Public Defender's Office and ask if his hearing could be moved to the following morning.

The man appeared in court the next day, and his case was dismissed.
Ms. Moore chose compassion, initiative, and service. Her willingness to go the extra mile is a powerful reminder that one thoughtful act can make a life-changing difference.

Congratulations to our Officer of the Month for June, Cpl. Keith Brown!

While traveling east on Bell Road, Cpl. Brown witnessed a colliding with a pickup truck. Without hesitation, he activated his emergency lights to protect the crash scene, notified dispatch, and coordinated with 911. He forced open the door of the pickup truck to reach the trapped driver, reassuring her to remain still until help arrived.

Cpl. Brown then turned his attention to the occupants of the van, who were both unresponsive. Recognizing the severity of the situation, he requested multiple ambulances, assisted firefighters by providing Narcan when additional doses were needed, and climbed into the van to help dislodge the man so he could be transported for medical treatment.

His calm demeanor, decisive actions, and commitment to serving others made a critical difference during a life-threatening emergency. We commend Cpl. Brown for his heroism, professionalism, and unwavering dedication to protecting our community.

Over the seven weeks, participants will gain an inside look at the people, programs, and operations to learn why our agency is known as a leader in Corrections. This evening, they will meet Sheriff Daron Hall Nashville Sheriff , tour our Headquarters and learn about our Pre-Trial Services Division. We are excited to share their journey with you—stay tuned!

“I am pleased with the court’s decision today regarding the crisis of state inmates overcrowding our local jails. This is an important step towards our correctional system, once again, being a national model. Work is underway to ensure Nashville has facilities that are safe and secure for both Davidson County Sheriff’s Office staff and inmates.”
