Today, we honor the great Dolly Parton, whose light and love extended even beyond her legendary music and into our Library.

Her gift of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library books was transformational to our Begin Bright initiative.

We will continue to honor her legacy every day across NPL, as we celebrate the joy of books and reading and champion early literacy for generations of Nashvillians to come.

The world lost an absolute icon today, Dolly Parton

Over the course of 31 years Dolly Parton's Imagination Library has given over 3 million children over 300 million books. The program started here in Tennessee and expanded across the country and even made its way to other countries.

Dolly has been a pillar in early literacy, and we thank and honor her for all ways she gave back to the world who loved her so much. Rest in peace.

Today is the last day EP will be open for a while! All holds have been moved to Nashville Public Library - Southeast Branch, unless you have chosen another branch to deliver holds to. Please keeping checking our social media and website at library.nashville.gov for reopening updates.

The Edmondson Pike branch will close on August 10 for HVAC upgrades, with an anticipated reopening at the end of September.

The outdoor book drop will also be closed during this time; you may return borrowed items to any other NPL location.

What You Need to Know Ahead of the Closure:

Books and materials on hold for pickup at Edmondson Pike will be available through closing on Wednesday, August 5.

Beginning Monday, August 10, your hold requests will be available for pickup at the Southeast branch.

If you prefer to pick up your items at a different alternate location during the closure, you may adjust your library account or contact us for help.

While the Edmondson Pike branch is closed, we invite you to visit other NPL locations and to continue using NPL’s online resources.

As a reminder, EP will be closed August 10-end of September due to HVAC upgrades, so we don't have a lot of children's programs in store this month.

Any special events we had planned for this month have been rescheduled for later in the year, so stay tuned for more details!

Otherwise, we've got Family Art Night on 8/7 from 4-5PM, plus Rodney the Magician's Amazing Magic Show on 8/8 from 10:30-11:30AM, with popsicles afterwards!
