Nineteen years ago, we lost Maddie, an athlete, a friend, and a bright light in our community. She was a soccer and tennis player at Brown County High School, and in her memory, Maddie’s Fund supports the Brown County Girls Tennis.
Today, her legacy lives on by helping students participate in the same sports that meant so much to her.
Consider supporting Maddie’s Fund and helping continue her legacy through the Maddie's Fund at the Brown County Community Foundation.

Yesterday, at the Steve Makurat Invitational, we had the honor of dedicating a memorial bench overlooking the tennis courts in memory of Madeleine “Maddie” Claire Bachelier, a Brown County student-athlete who passed away in 2007.

Andrea Bright Johnson (left) and Ryan Dodge (right), cofounders of Maddie’s Fund and proud Brown County High School alumni, joined Susan Montgomery (center), Maddie’s mother, for this meaningful moment.

This bench stands as a lasting tribute—celebrating Maddie’s life, her impact, and the legacy that continues through Maddie’s Fund. Not pictured: cofounder McKenna Penley.

We’re grateful to be part of remembering and honoring one of our own!

Brown County Community:
Do you watch true crime and think, “That could never happen here”?
It can—and it has. Even well-intentioned organizations can find themselves vulnerable when proper financial safeguards aren’t in place with internal controls.
You’re invited to a compelling documentary screening and expert panel discussion of All the Queen’s Horses—a real-world story that underscores why strong accounting protocols, second-signer policies, and regular audits are not just best practices, but essential protections for your mission, your donors, and your reputation.
Why attend?
Learn how small gaps in oversight can lead to devastating consequences
Understand practical, common-sense financial safeguards every organization should have
Hear local insights during a post-film panel discussion focused on prevention—not blame
Strengthen trust with donors, congregants, and the public
*Qualifying organizations have a chance to win a $100 grant from BCCF while in attendance!
