Founded in 1971, Progress promotes independence, health, and happiness for people with disabilities and seniors. We support and guide people to direct their own goals and achieve the highest quality of life. Progress provides Residential Services, Employment Services and Community-Based Day Services to people with disabilities, and Senior Services to senior adults. Progress also operates the social enterprise, Smart Art + Craft Supplies.

It's not everyday you run into global superstar Rihanna! Cole visited Madame Tussauds Nashville Wax Museum and got a close up look at tons of celebrities with Job Coach Carson Rosenberg. This community activity was a fun exploration of all that our city offers. And getting a pic with RiRi was not too bad of a bonus!

Thank you to our Business Partner Highlight, Dollar General!

Ronald has been employed with Dollar General Market since December 2025 working on recovery and stocking merchandise. Ronald’s Manager, Mr. Jay, says this about Ronald: “Ronald is amazing with customers. Everyone loves him. Roanld has helped keep store moral up, he is always smiling and willing to help anyone out. He does an excellent job at getting product straight and no one else can clean like he does! Ronald will take initiative to fix something or clean something without being asked; he has been a great asset to the team and is amazing with the customers as well, always willing to help them, from finding product to helping get their groceries to the checkout.”

Congratulations to Employee of the Month, Dawn Howard!

Dawn Howard has been with Progress for over 22 years, and is the Job Coach at the new Project SEARCH Melrose Pharmacy program with Vanderbilt University. The program just completed its first year, and has been a success thanks to Dawn’s dedication and hard work. Dawn is truly passionate about helping people succeed and achieve their dreams. She encourages the people she supports to believe in themselves, and not to set limits on their goals. Dawn’s cheerleading goes beyond the program, and in many cases she continues mentoring graduates long after they’ve left. We are grateful for all that she does, congratulations, Dawn!

MAPs recently visited the zoo and fed birds, watched animals, and other neat things! Job Coach Chris Henderson helped coordinate the visit, and everyone had a great time. The MAPs program helps individuals learn skills to help them work, live independently, learn about their neighborhoods, and find hobbies that interest them.
