A beautiful day for the dedication of the Monument to the Unborn, unveiled on the Tennessee State Capitol grounds on Tuesday June 24. It was an honor to be a co sponsor of the legislation that brought this about. Thanks to former State Rep Jerry Sexton and Senator Janice Bowling who were the primary sponsors of the bill in the House & Senate. They worked very hard to pass the legislation. The monument was funded entirely through private donations. No public funds were involved. special thanks to Former Rep Bill Dunn and his wife and Tn Right to Life for their involvement and support

A great evening recently at the annual TVA/Tennessee State Parks reception and Media day. A couple hundred people, who love the outdoors, enjoyed an evening of food, fun and discovery. One State Park Ranger has a display and info about Tennessee’s snakes. That’s when I discovered my wife Beverlee is a snake handler😂. The Ranger said the Corn Snake is very docile and is important in helping control the rodent population. I’ve seen Beverlee pick up frogs, bugs, a 2-foot alligator… and now a snake. My life with her is never boring.😊❤️

Such an honor to participate in the dedication of Tennessee’s newest state park. The Cherokee Trail of Tears State Park in Meigs County at Blythe Ferry stands as a witness to one of the most painful chapters in American and Cherokee history. The names of those who were removed from their homeland are chiseled in marble obelisks as a monument to the strength and endurance of the Cherokee and Muscogee people.
A special thanks to All who worked tirelessly for years to make this historic site a part of the state park system and join at least 6 other Trail of Tears locations across the state that are now protected by our Department of State Parks.
I am very happy that the state’s newest park is located in House District 22.
The park dedication is more than the opening of a park. It is a commitment to memory, truth, and history. It’s appropriate that we honor the resilience of these indigenous people.

Tremendous progress is being made on the new Polk County TCAT (Tennessee College of Applied Technology.) President Susan Hatto gave Beverlee and I a tour recently and we are excited about the opportunities this TCAT will offer to high school graduates as well as adults wanting to learn a trade and earn a good living wage. Building 1 should open in September. 👏👏👏
