The Equity Alliance proactively advocates for African-Americans and other communities of color to have a fair and just opportunity at realizing the American dream. We are a Nashville-based 501(c)3 non-profit advocacy group that seeks to equip citizens with tools and strategies to engage in the civic process and empower them to take action on issues affecting their daily lives. WHAT WE DO

Monitor

legislation, engage in policy research, and hold our state and local elected officials accountable. Educate communities of color about the economic, social, and political issues and how impending legislation will impact their lives. Engage and Empower citizens to take action and make their voices heard. We resist, persist, join forces, call, write, petition, assemble, and most importantly, vote. Create alliances with individuals and groups in order to present a united front against any economic barriers that seek to marginalize, disenfranchise, or discriminate against people of color and vulnerable populations.

Today we celebrate the Black fathers, father figures, and men in our community who continue to show up, love hard, lead with care, and hold down their families every single day. 🤎

Despite generations of policies and systems designed to separate Black families through enslavement, incarceration, economic injustice, and more, Black men have continued to nurture, protect, teach, and love their children and communities with strength and intention.

This Father’s Day, we honor the dads, bonus dads, uncles, grandfathers, mentors, and father figures of The Equity Alliance who remind us that Black fatherhood is powerful, present, joyful, and rooted in legacy. ✨

Thank you for the sacrifices, the lessons, the laughter, the rides home, the pep talks, the long hours, and the unconditional love. Our communities are stronger because of you.

Happy Father’s Day to all the men holding it down with love. 💪🏾🖤

🖤❤️💚 Happy Juneteenth, beautiful Black people. 🖤❤️💚

We started our celebrations early at Black on Buchanan, but we’re not done yet. This whole month is about freedom, resilience, joy, and remembering the generations who fought so we could be here today.

Juneteenth is a celebration. It’s also a reminder. A reminder that our freedom was hard fought. That our communities have always found ways to create joy, build power, and care for one another no matter the circumstances.

So today, we celebrate our culture. We celebrate our people. We celebrate the beauty of Blackness in all its forms.

Take up space. Dance a little harder. Love on your people. Tell our stories. Honor our ancestors.

And remember, Black joy is resistance too. ✊🏾✨

Happy Juneteenth, family.

When South Inglewood Community Center put out a call for help with summer snacks, The Equity Alliance answered within 24 hours!
We showed up with enough snacks to help keep their pantry stocked for the entire month. ✨

Community centers provide affordable and accessible childcare for families across Nashville. They create spaces where kids can learn, play, laugh, and just be kids while parents work, run errands, & take care of theirselves and families. When resources fall short, that’s when we show up for our own.

And the best part? As soon as we pulled up, the kids, staff and parents jumped into action. Parents and children came together to unload the car and stock the pantry without asking, everyone happy to help stock their own pantry. This is community.

You hear a lot about policy and advocacy from The Equity Alliance, but this is part of the work too. Taking care of each other. Showing up when help is needed. Investing in the places that invest in our families. That’s community!!
