Miles Burdine, USMC, Col (Ret.)
With more than 30 years of service in the U.S. Marine Corps and Marine Corps Reserves, he has dedicated his life to serving others, both in uniform and in his community.
From defending the U.S. Embassy in Beirut and being present during the devastating 1983 attack that claimed the lives of 241 service members, to commanding Marines during Operations Desert Shield/Storm, his military career reflects courage, leadership, and an unwavering commitment to service. He continued that legacy during Operation Iraqi Freedom, where he led a governance support team dedicated to helping build stability and strengthen communities.
Today, as President and CEO of the Your Kingsport Chamber, he continues that commitment by advocating for Veterans and helping advance initiatives such as NETVETS, a planned one-stop resource center connecting Veterans with services and support at no cost. He shares his powerful presentation, “It’s Okay to Not Be Okay,” free of charge with anyone, especially those battling with PTSD. His message reminds us that no one must face the journey alone.
His leadership extends throughout Northeast Tennessee, where he has helped champion workforce development, education, economic growth, Veteran initiatives and numerous community projects.
