Tennessee Highway Safety Office The Tennessee Highway Safety Office is a division of the Tennessee Department of Safety & Homeland Security advocating for traffic safety.

The Tennessee Highway Safety Office (THSO) is Tennessee's advocate for traffic safety. THSO partners with law enforcement, judicial personnel and community advocates in efforts to reduce traffic crashes, injuries and fatalities. Through data-driven strategies, law enforcement, education and media communications, THSO works to improve human behavioral aspects of traffic safety.

The THSO supported the Carter County Tennessee Sheriff's Office's L.E.A.D. Program with our motorcycle education trailer and Seat Belt Convincer!

The L.E.A.D. Program (Law Enforcement Against Drugs & Violence) provides officers with resources to teach evidence-based community prevention programs. The Carter County Sheriff's Office holds a two-week junior police academy every year.

The Rutherford County Traffic Safety Task Force will partner with the Tennessee Highway Safety Office for "Operation Impact 24" on June 26. Agencies will crack down on distracted driving, speeding, seat belt use, impaired driving, and other hazardous moving violations along Interstate 24.
