Murci Homes Inc. Murci-Homes is a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) residential agency serving individuals with severe/profound disabilities in a cluster of 9 group homes. (ICF/ID).

A team of dedicated specialists is required to operate the Homes under the direction of Jackie Stewart. A volunteer Board meets regularly and provides overall guidance coupled with fiscal responsibility. Board members include parents and business executives drawn from the community. The bylaws require that parents of residents serve on the Board. Mur-Ci Homes receives partial funding from the Fede

ral Government’s Medicaid program and is classified as an Intermediate Care Facility for Intellectual Disabled. The balance of funds necessary to operate the homes is provided by the Friends of Mur-Ci Homes, Inc.

On Friday, we had our End of Summer Bash that included water play, music, snacks, frozen drinks and lunch. With some gentle encouragement, most folks joined in the fun and nearly everyone was wet . . some more than others. . .by the end. There were pools, sprinklers, buckets, hoses and water guns everywhere. It was a hot so it was a great day for water play. As you can see by the faces, folks had a really good time celebrating the end of summer break.

Prepare for a photo dump! We are winding up the summer with several activities. The first one was last week when the Good Humor man showed up with his ice cream truck with ice cream for all! It was a very hot day and the ice cream was very much appreciated . . and delicious to boot. Thank you Knights of Columbus for arranging this very special treat for us!

As has been our tradition for the last few years, the Knights of Columbus provide a party on the Saturday before Staff Appreciation Week. This year it was excellent as usual. We had face painters, a balloon artist, a mariachi band, a petting zoo, a juggler/stilt walker, Mario & Luigi and Booster the Rooster even made an appearance. There were many volunteers from the KOC and they brought food for everyone and so many yummy desserts. This is an event that all of us at Mur-Ci Homes look forward to every year. The Knights are wonderful to us and we appreciate them so much and all they do!

Our last day of Staff Appreciation Week was our traditional water play day. Water guns, foam party, water slides, and wading pools. Even some of the persons supported decided they wanted to come down the slides. What fun! We had smoked barbeque, smoked chicken and smoked sausage with all the fixins! Everyone joined in . . .and some even ganged up on folks. Everyone got our new summer shirts! This is always one of our favorite days. We end up wet . .but happy. Thanks to all who helped make this week a success. And a HUGE thank you to all our staff who work so hard to make a wonderful life for the people we support!!! Love to all!

Wednesday was Whacky Wednesday. Some of us had difficulty as it felt a lot like Monday! But have no fear! We managed to dress "whacky!" We also played games of Mur-Ci Feud and Let's Make a Deal. Can I just say that the teams can be quite competitive! But we laughed a lot and lots of gift cards and other gifts were given out. But it was a HOT day and by the time the festivities were over, we were all wrung out. Even with all the treats and virgin daiquiris (and they were delicious), everyone was ready to get back inside! Thanks Ty's Fish Fry for our food on this day!

Tuesday was our day to dress as Dr. Seuss characters. We placed some very competitive games of BINGO with prizes given to winners. The management staff also got our Summer T-shirts which turned out fantastic. Tuesday was a little more low key as we were all worn out from Monday! But everyone seemed to enjoy the day!

Monday's theme was Mixed Up Monday. Morning gifts for all the staff! We had a scavenger hunt during the day and Movies...

Monday's theme was Mixed Up Monday. Morning gifts for all the staff! We had a scavenger hunt during the day and Movies on the Lawn that night. It was a long day but there was lots of laughter and friendly competition. Our movie --- The Cat In The Hat was a great way to end our first day of fun!

Warning!!!! Photo dump incoming! Two weeks ago was our Staff Appreciation Week. If you have been following us long, you know that this is a week full of food and fun as we try to express to our staff how much we appreciate them. This year was no different. Our first two Movies on the Lawn Events are in the bag. Our first night was a showing of Back To the Future and a celebration of the 1980s! The Kona Ice Truck came curtesy of Tim and Sarah Ford. Thank you so much! We LOVE Kona Ice. We had snacks galore and enjoyed the movie. The next night, was watching the movie Matilda. Again, lots of snacks --- hot dogs, nachos, pudding, popcorn, chips, etc. You name it, we had it. Some folks seem to prefer the snacks over the movie. But hey! As long as we had fun, we consider it a success! Can't wait for the next one!
