This past Friday, we celebrated Juneteenth and World Sickle Cell Day with a reminder that awareness starts with knowing what’s in your genes.

Sickle cell disease and sickle cell trait impact thousands of people, and many may not even know their status. That’s why our work matters.

We’re continuing to support local warriors, raise awareness, and push for a future where more families have access to education, resources, and hope.

Join us for our 6th Annual Sickle Cell 5K on September 26 at Hartman Park. Come walk, run, support, and help us keep breaking the cycle.

What's your body telling you?

Managing sickle cell disease means being an expert on your own body. Don't ignore signs of fatigue, pain, or discomfort. Taking breaks, resting, and knowing when to slow down are acts of self-care, not weakness.

🔴 Shine a Light for Sickle Cell Warriors! 🔴

Did you know that June 19th is World Sickle Cell Day? 🌍 Today, we stand in solidarity with the millions of warriors worldwide fighting this inherited blood disorder. This year’s theme, “Closing the Survival Gap: Equity in Sickle Cell Disease,” reminds us that every person—regardless of where they live—deserves access to quality care and a chance to thrive.

Why it matters:

A Global Struggle: Over 100 million people worldwide carry the sickle cell trait.

Silent Strength: Warriors often battle excruciating pain "crises" and fatigue in silence.

Community Impact: In the U.S., about 1 in every 365 Black babies is born with SCD.

How YOU can help today:

1. Wear Red: Put on your favorite red outfit and post a selfie to show your support! 💃🏽🩸

2. Show Your "C": Snap a photo making a "C" shape with your hand (representing the sickle-shaped cell) and tag us! 📸

3. Spread the Word: Share this post to help break the stigma and educate your friends. Knowledge is the first step toward a cure.

Let’s keep the light shining for every warrior, caregiver, and advocate. You are seen, you are strong, and you are not alone! 💪✨
