Step back in time and celebrate 50 years of preserving Murfreesboro's history at Cannonsburgh Village 50th Anniversary Celebration on June 26.

Enjoy bluegrass and gospel music, BBQ, a quilting bee, blacksmith demonstrations, a steam engine demonstration and the reopening of the restored Haynes Museum.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to experience two special exhibits, including 250 Years: Commemorating American Independence, developed in partnership with the MTSU Honors College, and Our American Story: Voices from Tennessee from the Tennessee State Museum.

Step into the frontier and meet one of America’s most legendary pioneers.

On June 27, living history interpreter Grant Hardin brings Daniel Boone to life at the Museum of Butler TN during Into the Wilderness: Daniel Boone & The Long Hunters. Through authentic clothing, equipment, and storytelling, discover the people and journeys that helped shape the Watauga Valley and early Tennessee.

Supported through a TN250 grant, this special program is part of the Museum of Butler’s America 250 initiative exploring the region’s earliest stories.

Shoutout to one of our TN250 grantees!

The Colonel Hardy Murfree, NSDAR created 100 “Patriots Rutherford County Remembers” posters highlighting American Revolution figures from Rutherford County. The posters were shared with Rutherford County and Murfreesboro City Schools, the Rutherford County Public Library, and city and county government agencies.

The poster will also be on display at the Rutherford County Courthouse’s Semiquincentennial Celebration on July 4, 2026.

A new piece of Tennessee history is making a colorful statement in Cookeville.

Stop by the Cookeville History Museum to see a stunning new exterior mural by Tennessee artist Katie Tyler. Sponsored by the Tennessee Commission for the U.S. Semiquincentennial, the mural celebrates Cookeville's rich heritage through the design of a vintage postcard, featuring beloved local landmarks like the train depot and Putnam County Courthouse. Look closely and you'll even spot the city's founding date in the postmark.
