🚔MNPD strongly encourages Nashvillians and visitors to lock your vehicle, secure your valuables—especially fi****ms—and ALWAYS remove your keys.

📊 So far in 2026:
• 278 fi****ms have been stolen from vehicles in Nashville.
• 10 guns were stolen from vehicles just last week.
• A total of 413 fi****ms have been stolen across Davidson County this year, with 67% taken from automobiles.

While that's an improvement from this time last year, when 449 guns had been stolen from vehicles, there's still work to do. Every secured vehicle helps reduce theft and keeps fi****ms out of the hands of criminals.

Remember, stolen vehicles are also frequently used to commit other crimes, including carjackings, robberies, and other violent offenses.

Park Smart:

✅ Never leave a firearm unattended in your vehicle.

The MNPD strongly encourages everyone to lock vehicle doors, secure valuables—especially fi****ms—and ALWAYS remove your keys.

So far in 2026, 264 guns have been stolen from vehicles in Nashville. Eight of those thefts occurred just last week. Of the 393 guns reported stolen in Davidson County this year, 67% were taken from automobiles.

While this is an improvement from this time last year, when 402 guns had been stolen from vehicles, there is still work to do.

Stolen guns and stolen vehicles are frequently used in other crimes, including robberies and carjackings. A few simple steps can help prevent your vehicle—and your firearm—from becoming part of the next crime.

The Southeast family and the entire Metropolitan Nashville Police Department say congratulations and thank you to Sgt. Brian Murphy and his family on an incredible retirement after 30 years of dedicated service!

For three decades, Sgt. Murphy has exemplified what it means to serve with honor, integrity, and professionalism. As a police officer, supervisor, mentor, and leader, he has left an impact that extends far beyond the badge. The countless officers he has trained, guided, and molded throughout his career are better law enforcement professionals—and better people—because of his influence.

Beyond his service to the community, Sgt. Murphy also served our nation as a military veteran, bringing a unique depth of leadership, discipline, and perspective to every role he held. The wisdom gained through both military and law enforcement service became a resource that countless officers relied upon throughout the years.

While retirement marks the end of a remarkable career, it does not mark the end of the legacy he leaves behind. His influence will continue to be seen in every officer he mentored, every life he touched, and every member of the Southeast Precinct who had the privilege of serving alongside him.

Sgt. Murphy, thank you for 30 years of sacrifice, leadership, friendship, and service to the citizens of Nashville. Your presence will be greatly missed, but your impact will never be forgotten.

We would also like to extend our sincere gratitude to his wife and family. A career in law enforcement is a commitment made not only by the officer, but by those who stand beside them through long hours, missed holidays, late-night calls, and countless sacrifices. Thank you for sharing Sgt. Murphy with our department and our community for the past 30 years.

Congratulations on a well-earned retirement, and best wishes for the next chapter. You have more than earned it.

‼️ Hero of the week 💙🍩💙

Good morning, Southeast! Last night was a busy one for our C Detail patrol team. Officer Sullivan, with assistance from K9 and Air1, made an outstanding arrest that helped keep dangerous drugs and a firearm off our streets.

During a traffic stop in the Southeast Precinct, Officer Sullivan asked the suspect to step out of the vehicle when the suspect fled the scene. Fortunately, Air1 was already in the area and quickly located the vehicle. Shortly afterward, the suspect was taken into custody without incident.

Officers recovered 38 grams of individually packaged fentanyl along with a firearm.

Great teamwork by everyone involved. Because of their efforts, Southeast is a little safer today!
