Yesterday, we had the honor and privilege of bringing one of our own, Al, from ECU Health back to his rehabilitation facility.

As many of you know, Al was recently diagnosed with brain cancer after a tumor was discovered. Following a successful surgery to remove the tumor, he is now beginning the next phase of his journey—recovery, rehabilitation, and healing.

We were proud to send a Nash EMS unit to bring Al home. Upon his arrival, coworkers, friends, and supporters from fellow fire departments lined the sidewalks to cheer him on and show him the love and support of the Nash EMS family.

Al has spent his career caring for others, and now it is our turn to stand beside him. Please continue to keep Al and his family in your thoughts and prayers as he takes on the challenges ahead with the same strength, determination, and heart that he has always shown while serving our community.

Please join with us in welcoming our newest employee, Krystal Phillips, to the Nash EMS family! Krystal comes to us with 5 years of Paramedic experience. She loves to continuously learn, takes a lot of pride in her work ethic, and is very excited to be a part of our team (but not as excited as we are to have her, of course). Krystal will begin her FTEP process with us next week!

Last night, members of Nash EMS had the privilege of attending the Johnston Community College Paramedic Graduation Ceremony to celebrate FOUR of our own employees reaching this significant milestone.

Becoming a paramedic requires countless hours of classroom instruction, clinical rotations, field experience, and dedication. We are incredibly proud of their hard work, perseverance, and commitment to advancing their knowledge and skills in order to better serve the citizens of Nash County.

Please join us in congratulating our newest paramedics Alexis Henry, Samantha Spivey, Owen Ryan, and Gabby Ward on this outstanding achievement. We look forward to the impact they will continue to make in our organization and community!

Today, we ask our Nash EMS family and community to keep one of our own in your thoughts and prayers.

Our brother, Al, has recently been diagnosed with glioblastoma, a very aggressive form of brain cancer. As an Advanced EMT, Al has spent years serving the citizens of Nash County with compassion, dedication, and professionalism, always answering the call when others needed help.

Now, Al faces a fight of his own.

Please join us in praying for strength, comfort, healing, and peace for Al and his family in the days ahead. We are grateful for the support of our community and know that together we can surround him with the same care and encouragement he has given so many others.

This EMS Week, we want to recognize and thank every single member of Nash County EMS for the work you do day in and day out for our community.

Whether it’s the middle of the night, during holidays, in bad weather, on the toughest calls, or during someone’s worst moment — you continue to show up. Your compassion, professionalism, dedication, and resilience do not go unnoticed.

EMS is more than a job. It’s missed holidays, long hours, sacrifices at home, and carrying the weight of moments most people will never understand. Yet our crews continue to serve with pride and heart every single day.

To all of our EMTs, AEMTs, Paramedics, FTOs, Community Paramedics, Support Staff, and Leadership — thank you for the positive difference you make in the lives of others and in this organization. Nash County EMS is what it is because of YOU.
