Due to rain expected tomorrow- I am going to cancel the meet up! Sorry was looking forward to it- I will planning something else for in May and post it as soon as I figure out date/time/what the meet up will be!

Hi everyone 🤍 just a quick clarification about Ascend Social Club:

This is a social meetup group, not a self-direction service or formal program. It’s simply a space to connect, meet new people, and enjoy different activities together.

For our first meetup: April 26th -Sunday 10:00am at Eisenhower Park.

• The walk + bring-your-own lunch portion will happen regardless (weather permitting ☀️)
• We’ll walk, hang out, chat, and I’ll have some sweet treats + a few light icebreakers to get to know each other.

For the yoga portion:
• We need at least 10 girls to make it worthwhile for the instructor ($25)
• Payment must be made upfront by the 21st (5 days before)

(Working on getting stripe-and doing some through Eventbrite as well for payment for more options so bare with me)

• If we don’t reach enough participants, there will be no yoga, and we’ll stick to the walk + lunch- and of course you will be refunded if you paid.

Moving forward:
• Some meetups will be free, others will have a paid component
• If an activity is paid, you’ll be responsible for your own payment in advance, if we meet at a restaurant for lunch or dinner you will also be responsible for your own meal and tip.

A space for women with disabilities who are independent, social, and looking for real connection—not forced interactions or surface-level friendships.

Hi everyone 🤍

Welcome to Ascend Social Club.

My name is Heather, and I created this space to build something that I’ve seen is deeply needed—a place for women with disabilities who are independent, social, and looking for real friendships.

This was inspired by someone very close to me, Dana (35, living with epilepsy), who shared how it feels to be capable, conversational, and interested in life—but still struggle to find her people. That feeling of sitting somewhere “in between” is more common than people realize.

Ascend Social Club is specifically for women with disabilities of all kinds who:

- are independent in many areas of their lives
- can hold conversations and enjoy social interaction
- are looking for genuine friendships—not surface-level small talk
- want to get out more, try new things, and build a social life
- feel like they don’t quite fit into traditional social spaces

This space is intentionally created for this community so that everyone who joins shares a similar experience and can feel comfortable, understood, and connected.

TO BE CLEAR- This is not a clinical setting or a program—or through SELF DIRECTION-it’s meant to feel like a natural, welcoming, elevated social space.

Think:

✨ meaningful conversations
✨ real friendships over time

Our first meetup will be a walk + bring-your-own lunch at Eisenhower Park on a nice spring day … Plus some sweet treats for after from me as a thank you for joining my first meet up!💕
