⚖️ Have a legal question but aren’t sure where to turn? Local attorney John Guillet will be at the Natchitoches Parish Library to offer free, limited legal advice as part of Lawyers in Libraries, held during National Celebrate Pro Bono Week. The program is hosted by the Louisiana State Bar Association, the Louisiana Library Association, and the State Library of Louisiana.

Join us Tuesday, Oct. 27, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the 3rd floor meeting room at the NPL Main Branch, 450 2nd St. No reservation is needed, and attorney time is first come, first served as time allows. Please bring any documents that might be relevant to your question or case.

Check out some savings before Halloween!

The Natchitoches Parish Library’s free costume checkout continues through Oct. 31 (the last day to check out a costume). Browse costumes and accessories for all ages, from babies to adults, at both the Main Branch in Natchitoches and the Northeast Branch in Campti. Adult library cardholders may check out up to two costumes of any size, and costumes are due back six weeks after checkout. They’re first come, first served, so stop in soon for the best selection.

Have costumes in good condition to share? Donations are welcome, too. Don’t have a library card yet? Your first card is free at any branch. 🎃

Spooky season is here, and while life without a library may be a scary prospect, the Natchitoches Parish Library's funding renewal won't be on the ballot until Dec. 12. In a little under 2 months, voters will decide whether to continue the library's existing 8-mill property tax for another 10 years (2028 through 2037), the same rate approved for the past 20 years. This existing property tax provides over 97% of the Library's funding.

Early voting runs Nov. 28 to Dec. 5. Find more details and learn about how the library budget works at vote.natlib.org.

Create a monster in a cage at Science Club for ages 7-12 on Tuesday, October 20th at 6 PM at the NPL's Main Branch. Prior registration is required by visiting in person or by calling 318-238-9222. Children must be accompanied by an adult to stay for the program.

Louisiana Legal Navigator's Justice Bus returns to Natchitoches tomorrow, October 20th from 11 AM to 1 PM to help guide you through your civil legal needs with access to free, informational resources.

Need a little extra legal help? Follow up with a free visit with Natchitoches attorney, John Guillet, October 27th from 11 AM to 1 PM during the NPL's Lawyers in Libraries event. Mr. Guillet is offering his time to meet with local residents in a limited capacity on a first-come, first-served basis as part of National Celebrate Pro Bono week. Bring any supporting documents relevant to your question or case and learn more about your specific legal circumstances.
